Be it remembered the Common Council of the City of South Bend met in regular session, Monday,.May 13, 1940, at 7:40 <br />P.M., in the Council Chambers of the City Hall, South Bend, IrO.iana, with President McCarthy presiding and all <br />members present. It was agreed to dispense with the reading of the minutes of the previous meeting. <br />C 0�RUJNI CATION <br />DAUGHTERS OF PENELOPE <br />GAIA CHAPTER NO.60 <br />South Bend,Ind. <br />May 10,1940 <br />To the Mayor and South Bend City Council <br />City Hall - South Bend, Indiana <br />Gentlemen: <br />We have been reading in our South Bend paper on various days recently, about a new milk law or Mild Ordinance that <br />has been placed before the City Council of our city for consideration. <br />We as tax payers and citizens of South Bend think this so called Quality Milk Program should be adopted by all <br />We have been told that several hundred cities in the United States have this ordinance. <br />We also think that any improvement for dairy products is a step forward and should be passed without any opposition <br />by the council. <br />We the undersigned do hope this Grade A Law or Ordinance meets with the approval of the entire council for the pro- <br />tection of.our children and ourselves. <br />With best wishes for Quality Milk, we remain, <br />This communication was accepted and t-o ?ae- placed on f ile. <br />COMMUNICATION <br />ION <br />Miss Marie Nelson <br />City Clerk <br />City H all <br />South Bend, Indiana <br />Dear Miss Nelson: <br />Yours very truly, <br />DAUGHTERS OF PENELOPE <br />Sandra Tsolikes' <br />President <br />INTERNATION UNION, UNITED AUTOMOBILE WORKERS OF AMERICA <br />April 25, 1940 <br />Our organization recently adopted the attached resolution and requested that a copy of same be sent to the City <br />Council, urging it's support by the City Council. Ole feel that this is the answer to one of our common, and most <br />deplorable conditions under which the majority of�our citizens are forced to exist. Motion carried. <br />REPORT <br />TO THE C OT,05ON COUNCIL <br />CITY OF SOUTH BEND, IND. <br />GENTLEMEN: <br />CITY PLAN CO!,,1MISSION <br />May 9, 1940 <br />At a special meeting of the City Plan Commission May 8th the petition of F. L. Alward for change of zoning classifi- <br />cation of Lot +4 Moon's First Addition from B residence and A height and area district to C, commercial use and D <br />height and area district was acted upon. <br />The City Plan Commission approves this change. <br />The appended remonstrance is intended to apply both to this petition and to the petition of Cory A. and Beatrice L. <br />Augustine for change on lots +54 and 55 Augustine's Add. the properties being located on opposite sides of Lincoln <br />Way West between College and Brookfield Streets. <br />D. Moomaw, Secty. <br />Councilman 'Pulaski made a motion that the report be accepted. <br />carried. <br />ORDINANCE <br />Councilman Richardson seconded the motion. Motion <br />THIS ORDINANCE -IS AMENDATORY OF ORDINANCE NUMBERED 2331, ADOPTED BY THE COMMON <br />COUNCIL OF-THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA ON JUNE 2;50 1923, OO1,1MONLY KNOWN AS <br />THE ZONING ORDINANCE. <br />y <br />This ordinance was given first reading by title and second reading in full. Councilman Pulaski made a motion that <br />the ordinance be given public hearing at a special Committee of the Whole meeting on May 27, 1940. Councilman <br />Bishop seconded the motion. Motion carried by a vote of 9 ayes - 0 nays. <br />ORDINANCE <br />A PROPOSED ORDINANCE GOVERNING THE PRODUCTION AND DISTRIBUTION OF GOAT MILK IN <br />THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND, IND. ALL MILK REFERRED TO IN THIS ARTICLE SHALL APPLY <br />ONLY TO GOAT MILK. <br />This ordinance was given first reading by title and second reading in full. Councilman Richardson made a motion <br />that the ordinance be considered at the special Committee of the Whole meeting on May 27. Councilman Pulaski <br />seconded the motion.
