<br />MINUTES
<br />Be it remembered that the Common Council of the City of South Bend, India.na.,. met in the
<br />regular session in the Council Chambers of the City hall, Monday evening,.December 27th, 1937,
<br />at the hour of 7:30 P. M. All-members were present. President Fish presided.- Councilman
<br />Chambers moved to dispense with the reading of the minutes. Councilman Hull seconded the motion
<br />Motion carried.
<br />COMMUNICATIONS:
<br />A card of app.recietion from Mrs. Fred Woodward was read. Accepted by the council and ordered
<br />placed on file.

<br />PETITIONS
<br />We, the undersigned, petition for the Portage Avenue Bus to be extended to Bergen Street for
<br />the convenience of the residents in that vicinity.

<br />Councilman Goetz moved that said petition be referred to the Board of Public Works end that
<br />they report back to the Council. Councilman Bierwagen seconded the motion. Motion carried.
<br />Councilman Rasmussen moved that the Board of Public Safety request the Grand Trunk Rtilroa-d
<br />to install flashers at Greenlawn Avenue crossing. Councilman Kerner seconded the motion.
<br />Motion carried.
<br />Councilman Bierwegen moved to petition.Street Car Company to eliminate street cars on Wash-
<br />ington, Chapin and Sample Streets and Prairie Avenue. Councilman Chambers seconded the motion.
<br />Matter referred to the.Board of Public.Works.
<br />Councilman James moved that the City Clerk be instructed to write the International Association
<br />of Police Chiefs for e report giving their suggestions for_ the more effective orgp.nization of
<br />the Police Department of the City of South Bend.
<br />Be it further resolved that the chief of police of the South -Bend Police Depertment prepare
<br />a plan of reorganizption of the Police Depe'r tment for presentation to the Common Council.
