%52S <br />COMMITTEE OF THE WHOLE MEETING <br />DECEMBER 6th, 1937 <br />MENUTES <br />Be it remembered that the Common-Council of the City of South Bend,,Indiena, met in the <br />Committee of the Whole in the Council Chambers of the City Hell, Monday evening, December.6th, <br />1937, at the hour of 7:40 P. M. All members were present. Cheirman'Goet2 presided. <br />ORDINANCE NO. 323 <br />-An Ordinance transferring the sum of Nine Hundred Fifty -Six Dollars and Twenty -Five cents <br />($956.25) from the Municipal Airport Fund of the City of South Bend to the General Fund of <br />the City of South Bend end to abolish the fund known as Municipal Airport Fund. <br />Councilman Chambers moved that said ordinance go to the Council favorably. Councilman <br />Hull seconded the motion. Motion carried. <br />ORDINANCE NO. 3239 <br />An Ordinance transferring the sum of Five Hundred Ten Dollars and Seventy Cents ($510.70) <br />from one department under the Board of Health to another department-under the Board of.Health. <br />Councilman Chambers moved that said ordinance go to the Council favorably. Councilman <br />Hull seconded the motion. Motion carried. <br />ORDINANCE NO. 3240 <br />An Ordinance transferring the sum of Seven Hundred Dollars ($700.00) from one account <br />under the City Engineer's office to another account under the City Engineer's Office for the <br />purchase of a new truck. <br />Councilman Chambers moved that said ordinance go to the Council favorably. Councilman <br />Hull. seconded the motion. Motion carried. <br />ORDINANCE NO. 3241 <br />An Ordinance transferring the sum of Two Hundred Dollars ($200.00) from one account under <br />the City Judges to spother account under the City Judges for the payment of Special Judge's. <br />Co,.incilman Hull moved that said ordinance go to the Council favorably. Councilman Chambers <br />seconded the motion. Motion carried. <br />COPY OF LETTER FROM STATE HOUSING _BOARD OF INDIANA <br />November 29, 1937 <br />Colonel George W. Freyermuth, <br />Mayor, City of South Bend, <br />South Bend, Indiana <br />Dear Mayor Freyermuth: <br />On the 10th day of November, 1937, the State Housing Board transmitted to you copies of.the <br />recently Enacted state end federal housing laws. While I we.s.still with the Public Works. <br />Administration, I recall that you evidenced considerable interest in the prospect of municipal. <br />ly aided housing construction. The enactment of the federal and state 'laws previously trans - <br />mjtted to you indicates that some hope may be held that federal assistance will now be rendered <br />in the furnishipg of decent'and .senitary dwellings for pe sons,of low income. <br />Most of the- lerrger cities of the state are now contemplating the creation of a, municipal. hous- <br />ing authority, as provided .in the Indiana statutes.
