<br />SEPTEMBER 27th, 1937
<br />Be it remembered that the Common Council of the City of South Bend, Indiana, met in the
<br />regular session in the Council Chambers of the City Hall, Monday evening, September 27th, 19379
<br />at the hour of 7 :45 P. M. All members were present except Councilmen Goetz and James. President
<br />Fish presided. Councilman Rasmussen moved to dispense with the.reading of the minutes fors he
<br />last meeting.. Councilman Bierwagen seconded the motion. Motion curried.
<br />CERTIFICATION OF POSTING NOTICE TO TAXPAYERS
<br />In the 14atter Determining additional Appropriations for extra funds for General Supplies in the
<br />Police Department; for Gasoline in the Cemetery Department; for the Special Judge account in th
<br />City Judge's Office.

<br />Five Dollars ($925.00) from the General Fund of the City of South Bend, Three Hundred Dollars
<br />of same to Account P -19 in the Police Department for General Supplies Twenty -Five Dollars
<br />025.00 to Account N -7A in the Cemetery Department for gasoline and Two Hundred'Dollars ($200,00'
<br />to the Special Judge Account of the City Judge's Office, Account E -5.
<br />Respectfully report that they have examined the matter and that in their opinion should be re-

<br />Dear Sir:
<br />The Executive Committee of the United States Conference of Mayors has directed me to extend to
<br />the members of the City Council, through you, a cordial invitation to attend the Annual Confer-
<br />ence of the United States Conference of Mayors. The 1937 Conference will be held in Washington
<br />on November 15 -17.
<br />At this time when so many common problems face the larger cities, it is urgent that effective
<br />interchange of information and experience covering municipal affairs take place. The annual
<br />Conference serves es a. medium for such interchange between the important cities of the country.
<br />Among the major problems to be considered in November are those of Relief, Cities end Industrial
<br />Disputes, Housing and the Municipal Airport Problem. Outstanding Federal officials are on the
<br />program and there will be ample time for discussifn. No city can afford not to be represented
<br />If it is to keep abreast of delelopments, especially on the various Federal programs affecting
<br />the cities.
<br />On behalf of the Executive Committee of the Conference, I ask that you submit this official
<br />invitation to the City Council in order that plans may be made at this time to attend.
