REGULAR MEETING MAY 24th, 1937 <br />MINUTES <br />Be it remembered that the Common Council of the City of South Bend, Indiana, met in the <br />regular session in the Council Chambers of the city Hall, Monday evening, May 24th, 1937, <br />e.t the hour of 10:30 P. M. All members were present .a: President Fish presided. Councilman Go eta <br />moved that the reeding of the minutes for the last meeting be dispensed with. Councilman Bier- - <br />wa.gen seconded the motion. Motion carried. <br />CERTIFICATION OF POSTING NOTICE TO TAXPAYERS <br />In the Vatter Determining Additional Appropriations for extra funds for installation of traffic <br />lights on North Michigan Street at Angella end.North Shore Drive, and for-salaries for vecatio ns <br />of electrical employes. And to prohibit the parking of cars on the streets between 1:00 and <br />5:00 o'clock A.M. <br />South Bend, Indians <br />May 25th, 1937 <br />I, Mary B. L. Taylor, City Clerk of the City of South Bend, Indiana, do hereby certify that a <br />copy of the attached notice was published in the South Bend Tribune and the South Bend News - <br />times, two daily newspapers, on the 14th end the 21st day of May, 1937, both published in the <br />City of South Bend, Indiana, also theft I have posted notices in the following places: towit: <br />In the Corridor of the City Hell, Sol.-Ith Bend, Indiana. <br />In the Corridor of the Court House, South Bend, Indiana. <br />In the alley in the rear of the Court House, South Bend, Indiena, all being <br />public places in said City. . <br />In Witness Whereof, I have hereunto set my hand and affixed the Seal of the City of South Bend, <br />Indiana, this 25th d.ay of May, 1937. <br />(OFFICIAL SEAL) <br />Mary B. Motion carried. <br />REPORT.OF THE COMMITTEE OF THE WHOLE #3209 <br />To the Common Council of the City of South Bend: <br />Your'Committee of the Whole to whom was referred An Ordinance amending section 41 of <br />e <br />Ordinanc#3146 with reference to the schedule of perking on the street of the City of South <br />Bend to prohibit the parking of cars on the streets of the City of South Bend between one (1:00) <br />and five (5:00) A.M. <br />Respectfully report that they heve examined the matter and that in their opinion should be re- <br />ported favdrable as amended. Geo. W. Goetz, Cheirman <br />The report was accepted by the Council and ordered to be placed on file. Motion carried. <br />REPORT OF THE COMMITTEE OF THE WHOLE #3210 <br />To the Common Council of the City of South Bend: <br />Your Committee of the Whole to whom was referred An Ordinance appropriating the sum of <br />seventeen hundred fifty dollars ($1750.00) from the General Fund of the City of South Bend.to <br />the Electrical Department, one Thousand dollars ($1,000.00) of same being for .installation of <br />new traffic lights on North Micbiger_ at Angella and North Shore Drive, and. Seven H.:,ndred Fifty <br />Dollars ($7%0'0) beinv for salaries for vacations of electrical employees. <br />Respectfully report that they have examined the matter and that in their opinion should be re- <br />ported favorable. Geo. W. Goetz, Chirman <br />The report was accepted by the Council and ordered to be placed on file. Motion carried. <br />Councilmen Chambers moved that the comm unicetions be tabled till the next regular council <br />meeting. Councilman Rasmussen seconded the motion. Motion carried. <br />ORDINANCE _ #3209 <br />AN Ordinance amending section 41 of Ordinance #3146 with reference to the schedule of <br />parking on the paved streets of the City of South Bend to prohibit the parking of.cars on the <br />paved streets of the City of South Bend between two (2 :00) and five (5 :00) A.M. <br />The ordinance was given its third reading by title end was placed upon its passage and <br />passed by the -follow -ing vot4:_. Hull, Goetz, Bierwa.gen., Kerner, Fish, Chambers, Rasmussen and <br />Palicki , 8 eyes. James, 1 nay. Ordinance adopted. <br />ORDINANCE #3210 <br />An Ordinance appropriating the sum of Seventeen Hundred Fifty Dollars ($1750.00) from the <br />General Fund of the City of South Bend to the Electrical.Department, One Thousand Dollars <br />($1,000.00)'of same being for installation of new traffic lights on North Michigan at Angella' <br />and North Shore Drive, end Seven Hundred Fifty Dollars ($750.00) being for salaries for vaca- <br />tions of Electrical employees. <br />The ordinance was given its third reading by title end was placed upoh its passage and <br />passed by the following vote: Hull; Goetz, James, Kerner, Fish, Chambers, Rasmussen, and <br />Palicki, 9 ayes. Bierwagen, 1 nay. Ordinance adopted. <br />ORDINANCE #3211 <br />An Ordinance appropriating* the sum of Three Hundred Sixty Dollars (#360.00) to Account I-7, <br />the same being the account for tires and tubes for the Street Department, for the Purchase of <br />four (4) new tires for the flusher of the Street Department. <br />An Ordinance was given its first reeding by title, its second reading in full and on <br />motion of Councilmen Goetz was referred to the Committee of the Whole and also that a public <br />hearing be held June 14th, 1937. Councilman Chambers seconded the motion. Motion carried. <br />ORDINANCE #3212 <br />An Ordinence appropriating the. sum of Two Hundred Dollars ($200.00) for the Special Judge <br />Account under the office of City Judge. <br />An Ordinance was given its first reading by title, its second reeding in full and. on <br />motion of Councilman Goetz was referred to the Committee of the Whole and elso that a public <br />hearing be held June 14th, 1937. Councilman Bierwcgen-_seconded the motion. Motion carried. <br />
