(CONTINUED FROM PAGE 42$ ) .:, <br />WHEREAS, the cities of Elkhart, Mishewaka end Niles are considering the elimination of sewage <br />from the St. Joseph River; end, <br />WHEREAS;. the Public Works Administration of the Federal Government are favorable to grents to <br />municipalities for this type of construction; and, <br />WHEREAS, it is believed that the use of such funds from P.W. A. would result in large savings <br />to the taxpayers and the weter users of this community; and, <br />WHEREAS, it is believed that financing bf such a. project could be arranged by the securing of <br />P vr9nt from t he Federal Government, plus the issuance of Income Bonds; and, <br />?WHEREAS, further delay may be very costly to this community by the exhaustion of P.W.A. funds <br />for such purposes, thereby causing the entire expense to be borne by this community; <br />BE IT RESOLVED THAT a•Apecial Committee of five (5) members of this Council be appointed by <br />the President, such committee to work in conja.nction with the Board of Works, to investigate. <br />the feasibility of the Board of Works making application at this time for e. P.W.A. grant, the <br />pr.eperstion of plane and specifications and the outlining of method of financing; report to be <br />made back to this council at its next meeting. <br />HOWARD L CHBERS _ <br />Member of the Common Council of <br />South Bend, Indiana <br />Councilmen Goetz moved that the Board of Works, Mayor and the City Attorney be directed: by the <br />Council to aacertein if the City can secure a grant for a sewage disposal plant , if the City <br />has the money to spend, and hove much it will cost the City. Councilman Hull seconded the <br />motion. Motion carried. <br />RESOLUTION: <br />WHEREAS,. .e large number of businesses requiring special supervision by the Police Department <br />And other departments of this City; and, <br />WHEREAS, additional funds for maintenance of proper services to the citizens of South Bend are <br />sorely needed; end, <br />WHEREAS, a number of, occupations and/or businesses are enjoying special privileges and /or cost- <br />ing the city supervision but ere not ?eying adequate license fees, and in some instances, not <br />peying any license fee;, <br />BE IT RESOLVED THAT the City Comptroller be requested to prepare and submit an Ordinance revising <br />the license fees now in force and adding thereto license fees on verious businesses requirin7 <br />special supervision end /or enjoying special privileges end /or monopolies, such aG used car lots <br />perking lots, public utilities, -Eetc. <br />HOWARD L. Motion carried. <br />Councilman Jamee,moved that the Bm rd of Works investigate a•certain brick pillar erected on <br />corner of Mishaweke and Twyckenham Drive by the Colpert Reelty Co. which councilman Kerner <br />suggested is a traffic hazard. <br />Councilman Goetz moved that the Secretary of the Boe.rd of Safety convey to the Board of Safety <br />about the big trucks parking in residential districts. <br />men <br />There being no further business, Council /Goetz moved to adjourn.
