( CONTINUED FROM FAf3F 309) <br />ORDIYANCE N0. 31 Z/ <br />An Ordinance appropriating the sum of $11,400.00 from the General Fu-_d of the City of South <br />Bend to the depa -tment of Public Streets, City of South Bend and allocatinz- said sum to var- <br />ious department heads in said department for operation of Street Department for balance of <br />year 1935. <br />The Ordinancg was given its first reading by title, its "second reading in full and on Motion of <br />Councilman James was referred to the Committee of the IlVhole, also that a Public Hearing be <br />held July Stn, 1935 at 7 :30 P. M. Motion carried. <br />RESOLUTION. <br />To the Honorable Mayor, <br />Board of Works, — Safety and City Council, <br />of the City of South Bend, Ind. <br />RESOLUTION <br />THFRFAS the Federal Government has made formal announcement through the press that applications <br />for public works improvement will not be accepted; and <br />1" �FH7Ri'',AS the city has submitted a. list of projects to the State Planning Boargi totalling some <br />$25,000.00 which list includes both Waterworks Imrrovement and.. Sewage Disposal; and <br />WHEREAS Our Honorable Mllayor has corredtly stated that the only projects the City of South Bend <br />(due to its inability to issue general tax obligati,n bonds) can consider, are revenue produc- <br />ing projects.; and. <br />WHEREAS Waterworks.Improvements and Sewage Disposal projects are the only revenue rroducing <br />projects irn said list; and <br />WHEREAS these projects can be built with the r'ederal grant of 30% and. revenue bonds to be <br />retired from the operating income of the plants; end <br />WHEREAS a Sewage Disposal Plant with the necessary Sewers would provide work for `some thousand <br />men at prevailing wage scales and under normal working conditions; and <br />WHEREAS the Anti Stream Pollution Bill will probably force the construction of this improvement <br />by the City of South Bend; and <br />WHEREAS if the City of South Bend does not proceed with these revenue producing projects (which � <br />are the only one:. that can be considered becauae,,of the restrictions placed on the city as clear <br />ly outlined by our Honorable Mayor) organized labor, who,se employment has been particularly <br />affected by the lack of public improvement work, will be deprived of many jobs rightfully due; <br />now therefore <br />BE IT RESOLVED that The Barbers of South Bend <br />urge you to make an application for a Sewage Disposal Plant and that copies of this resolution <br />be sent to the local newspapers. Tres. <br />On Motion of Councilman Goetz the Resolution was referred. to the Board of Public Works. <br />Councilman Kerner seconded the Motion. <br />RESOLUTION <br />WHEREAS, ALITIGHTY GOD, in his all knowing wisdom has seen fit to call Frank H. Goetz from the <br />ranks of citizenry of South Bend., and <br />WHEREAS, the Goetz family have always clayed a leading part in our civic affairs, and the late <br />Frank H. Goetz, was well and. favorably known in this community, and <br />'SHEREAS, this loss is a distict lose to this community, <br />THEREFOR, be it resolved thLt the Common Council of the City of South Bend,. Indiana, send., <br />to the family of the deceased., its expression of sorrow.
