Ordinance adopted. <br />Ordinance No. <br />An Ordnance appropriating the sum. of $50,000 from the General Fund of the City of South <br />Bend for the purpose of acquiring the land taken from property owners, and the damages sustained <br />in the opening of North Michigan Street from North. Shore Drive to the City Limits of said City <br />of South Bend, Indiana. <br />The Ordinance was given its first reading by title, its second reading in full and on <br />Motion of Councilman Goetz was referred to the Committee of the Whole, also that a Public Hear- <br />ing be held June 10th, 1935 at 7 :30 P. M. Ordinance adopted. <br />Ordinance No. <br />An Ordinance appropriating the sum of $500.00 from the General Fund of the City of South <br />Bend to the Electrical Department, repair of Buildings Account No. S -5 -A, for the purpose of <br />laying a new roof on the fire alar;n station in the City of South Bend, also transferring the <br />sum of $500.00 from the regular salaries of Police f and P -1 to the General F1::nd of the City of <br />South Bend. <br />The Ordinance was given its first reading by title, its second reading in full and on <br />Motion of Councilman Bierwagen was referred to the Committee of the Whole, also-that a Public <br />Hearing bo held June 10th, 1935, at 7 :30 P. M. Motion carried. <br />Ordinance No. <br />An Ordinance transferring the sum of $10,000.00 from the Delinquent and Deficit account <br />of the City of South Bend, to the General Fund of the City of South Bend, and <br />appropriating from said General Fund the sun of ;7,000.00 to the Salaries Fund for Barrett Law <br />help Account D -3, and also appropriating the sum of '93,000.00 from the General Fund to the Re- <br />cord and Supplies Account for Barrett Law Equipment which Account is No. D -7 -A. <br />The Ordinance was given its first reading by title, its second reading in full and on <br />Motion of Councilman -Goetz was referred to-the Committee of the Whole, also that a Public Hear- <br />ing by held June 10th, 1935 at 7 :30 P. M. Motion carried. Councilman Goetz moved that Mr. De- <br />Haven'be present at the Committee of.the Whole meeting June 3rd, 1935- Councilman Chambers <br />seconded the Uot icon. <br />RESOLUTION: <br />WHEREAS$ our sister republic of Poland assurned its statiDn among the nations of the world but <br />a few years ago. Almost from the beginning of its independent status in Polish governement has <br />been a great influence in world politics and has wielded its power to maintain the democratic <br />principles that,government derives its just powers from the consent of the governed and that <br />every person within its jurisdiction is entitled to equal protection under its laws. <br />WHEREAS, the colorful thread of life of late Joseph Pilsudski is woven into the fabric of the <br />new republic of Poland. The place of the late Joseph Pilsudski, Marshal of Poland is in the <br />hearts of his countrymen and in the halls of world famous men is assured, but his country and <br />the civilized world have Lost a hero and champion of liberty and justice in the death of this <br />great soldier and statesman. <br />RESOLVED BY THE COMMON O'UNCIL OF. THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND, and the STATE OF INDIANA in session <br />assembled - <br />SECTION I. <br />That the Mayor and the city council of the city of South Bend, and the state,of Indiana, <br />join with all the world in paying tribute to the-indomitable will, the force, the courage and <br />the patriotism of Joseph Pilsudski. <br />SECTION II. <br />That certified copies of this resolution, properly authenticated, bq sent forthwith to the <br />Consul General of Poland, 1444 Lake Shore Drive, Chicago, Illinois, for transmission of same to <br />the family of the late Joseph Pilsudski. <br />Councilman Goetz, moved that the Resolution be adopted.
