<br />Your Committee of the Whole to whom was referred A Petition signed by employees of the
<br />Street Department requesting an increase of Salary. Respectfully report that they have examined i

<br />Your Committee of the Whole to whom was referred An Ordinance Ratifying and approving a.
<br />Contract entered into in:Triplicate by and between the Municipal City of South Bend, by and throe
<br />its Board of Public Works, First Party, and James H. Pierce Second Party. Respectfully report
<br />that they.have examined the matter andthat in their opinion the said Ordinance should be
<br />reported disaproved by a Report of a Special Committee and that the said'Ordinance be reported
<br />Unfavorable. Jno. C. Hiss, Chairman. The report was accepted by the Council and ordered to

<br />Seventy - -five Dollars from Account B -11A Refunds, Awards and Indemnities, to Account B -14 Premium
<br />on Officials Bondst Also the sum of Three Hundred Dollars ($300.00),from B-11A Refunds, Awards
<br />and Indemnities, to account B-11, Office Supplies all in the Department of Finance of the City
<br />of South Bend, Indiana. Respectfully report that they have examined the matter and that in their
<br />opinion the said Ordinance should be reported Favorable. Jno. C. Hiss, Chairman. The report waa

<br />An Ordinance Transferring the sum of Four Hundred `and Fifty Dollars ($450-00) from One
<br />Sub - division✓ in the Department of Public Health.
<br />The Ordinance was given its first reading by title, its second reading in full and on
<br />Motion of Councilman Hiss was referred to the Committee of the Whole, also that a Public Hearing
<br />be held September 10th, 193+ at 7 :30 o'clock P. M_. Motion carried.

<br />An Ordinance amending Ordinance No. 1769 adopted March -22, 1915, Prohibiting the carrying on
<br />of the Business of Junk Dealer in the City of South Bend, Indiana without a License.
<br />The_Ordinance was.given its first reading by title, its second reading in full and on Motion
<br />of Councilman Cripe was_ - referred to the Committee of the Whole. Motion carried.

<br />An Ordinance amending Ordinance Number 2902 approved by the.Mayor October 29, 1929, and
<br />(Ordinance Number 3059, approved by the Mayor June 7, 193+ Releating to Plumbing.'
<br />The Ordinance was given its first reading by title,`its second reading in full and on Motion
<br />of Councilman Hiss was referred to the Committee of the Whole. Motion carried.
<br />RESOLUTION INTRODUCED BY COUNCILMAN GEO. W. 60ETZ0
<br />WHEREAS, the Supreme Rules of the Universe has called to his reward Ernest a former
<br />member of the Common Council of the City of South Bend, and
<br />WHEREAS, the deceased has spent practically all his life in the City, where hes�waa known and
<br />loved by many of his friends and where he was prominent in matters pertaining to Civic Welfare.
<br />THEREFORE, be it resolved by the Common Council of the City of South Bend, Indiana,- that we
<br />deeply regret the passing of the deceased and extend to his bereaved family the condolence of this
<br />Council, and further be it resolved that a copy of thin Resolution beveertified by the City Clerk
<br />and be sent to the members of the family of they eceased.
<br />Ox Councilman Goetz makes a Motion to adopt said solution was standing vote of the - Council.
<br />Notion carried.

<br />I move that the City Clerk be requested to write the Public Service Commission to give a
<br />report as soon as possible on their findings and decision on Gas rates which are to apply to:the
<br />users in South Bend, based on hearings held during the past eighteen (18) Months. Councilman Jno.
<br />C. Hiss,. The Motion was seconded by Councilman Jaworski and ordered to be placed on file Motion
<br />carried.
