<br />An Ordinance to amend Section One of Ordinance No. 2565 being an Ordinance Providing
<br />for the establishing of a.& Dog Pound and for the Registration of Dogs , Bitches and other
<br />animals of the Canine Species; For the inoibulation of such Dogs with an approved and
<br />recognized Anti - Rabies Serum; Prohibiting all dogs from Running ar Large in the City of South;
<br />Bend, Indiana, unless so inoculated or muzzled; Providing means for identifying Dogs so
<br />Registered and inoculated; Providing that Dogs so inoculated may under certain conditions run
<br />at Large; Providing that any Dog running at Large and Not so inoculated and properly zTagged
<br />or muzzled may be impounded upon failure of the -owner to Redeem the same; and appropriating
<br />Twenty -Five Hundred Dollars from the General Fund of the City of South Bend, Indiana, and the
<br />Board of Public Safety for the Salary of a Dog Pound Master, and for the equipment and
<br />operation of-said Pound, and Providing a Penalty for the violation of This ordinance and
<br />Repealing all Ordinances in conflict herewith. Adopted June 23, 1930-

<br />The Ordinance was given its first reading by title, its second reading in full and on

<br />RESOLUTION. INTRODUCED BY COUNCILMAN JOHN C. NELSON.

<br />WHEREAS, the Supreme Ruler of the Universe has called to his reward Guy D. Staples, who
<br />at the time of his death was Street Commissioner of the City of South Bend, Indiana:
<br />WHEREAS, the deceased had spent all of his life in thin city where he was known_ and loved
<br />by many.friends, and where he was prominent in matters pertaining to civic welfare;
<br />THEREFORE, be it; resolved by the Common Council of the City of South Bend, Indiana, that
<br />we deeply regret the passing of the deceased and extend to his bereaved.family the condolence
<br />of this Council.
<br />Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution, certified by the City Clerk, be
<br />sent to the members of the family of the deceased.

<br />WHEREAS, it is the opinion of the members of the Common Council of the City of South

<br />Bend, Indiana, that telephone rates in said city as charged by the Indiana Bell Telephone
<br />Company are too high and out of proportion with present prices; and,
<br />WHEREAS, the City of South Bend has no availablemfunds at this time to carry on:a rate ca
<br />e,,
<br />for the reduction of such telephone charges within the City and the Public Services Commission
<br />is charged by law with- maintaining a reasonable rate at all times; and,
<br />WHEREAS other cities are equally interested_ in the need nfor a reduction in telephone ra
<br />ea.
<br />THEREFORE, be it resolved by the members of the Common Council'of the City of South Bend,
<br />Indiana, that the Utilities Committee of said Council and the Legal Department of said city be
<br />instructed to invite the cooperation of the public counselor of the Public ervice Commission
<br />and any other cities effected by rate charges of the Indiana Bell Telephone Company for the
<br />pixpose of obtaining a fair and just.charge. for telephone services, and that the City Attorney
<br />be authorized to file a petition with the Public Service Commission at such times as the
<br />Utilities Committee of this Council deema it advisable to file such petition for a reduction
<br />n
<br />telephone rates charged by the Indiana Bell Telephone Company in the city of South Bend, India
<br />a.
<br />On Motion of Councilman Cripe the Resolution was adopted. Motion carried.
