March 27th, 1933• REGULAR MEETING <br />MINUTES. <br />Be it Remembered that the Common Council of the City of South Bend, Indiana,`mom in <br />Regular Session in the Council Chambers in the City Hall.,, Monday evening March 27th,1933, <br />at the hour of 7 :50 o'clock P. M. All Members present.' President Nelson presided. The <br />Minutes of the jtwo• °:previous meetings-were read and on Motion of Councilman Hull were accepted <br />as read. Motion carried. <br />COMMUNICATION. <br />The Civic Improvement Committee <br />of the <br />Polish Central Civic Body <br />South Bend, Indiana March 25, 1933. <br />To the Common Council of the City of South Bend- . <br />The Civic Improvement Committee -of -the Polish Central Civic Body met on Fridaym, Marchx* <br />24, 1933 at the St. Casimir Clubroom. The Committee went definitely on record, in the name <br />of 20,000 citizens of the West Side which it.represents, as favoring and requesting a txbatak <br />substantial reduction in the utility rates. <br />The Committee.feels that the strenuous times warrant such a reduction._ It places full <br />confidence and faith in the efforts and results so far accomplished by the City Council of <br />South Bend in this matter of utility rates selemptimzz reduction. The Central Civic.Body is i <br />no way connected with other organizations agitating and waging the same battle independigtly <br />of the City Council. Consequently,. we urge the Council in behalf of the common welfare to <br />continue energetically its efforts through the duly constituted channels, in the . hope of <br />obtaining immediate relief far the r impoverished citizens. <br />Wishing the Common Council of South Bend every success in its deliberations and efforts <br />along these lines, we beg to remain, Respectfully, FOR "THE 'CIVIC IMPROVEMENT_ COMMITTEE <br />Rev. Wypisezynski, Secretary. <br />On Motion of- Councilman Cripe the Communication was accepted and ordered to be placed on file. <br />Motion carried. Councilman Goetz makes a Motion that the the Motion be amended to be referred <br />to the Committee on Public Utilities. Motion carried.' <br />COMMUNICATION. <br />Division of Stamps Post Office Department In y0reply Refer to <br />Third Assistant Postmaster General LS :EMB <br />Washington March 31, 1933. <br />Miss Gladys M• Monroe, City Clerk, <br />South Bend, Ind. <br />My dear Madadoo The President has referred to this Department your copy of a Resolution <br />of the Common Council, of South Bend , regarding issuance of a special postage stamp to <br />commemorate the one hundred fiftieth -annoversary -of -the naturalization as an American <br />citizen of Brigadier General Thaddeus Kosciuszko <br />Careful consideration has been given to the issuance of a Kosciuszko Commemorative stamp, fo <br />which mayny applications are on file. However, it is regretted that the postage stamp program <br />for the present year will not permit the issuance of a special stamp for this event. Very <br />truly yours, C. B. Eislenberger Third a Assistant Postmaster General. On Motion of Councilman <br />Hiss the Communication was accepted and ordered to be placed.on file.
