2 Assistant Clerks in Engineers Office; <br />2 Assistant Engineers; <br />1 Draftsman in Engineers Office; <br />2 Inspectors in Building Department; <br />2 Barrett Law Clerks in Treasurer's Office; <br />1 Deputy Clerk in City Clerk's Office; <br />1 Assistant Clerk- in Board of Works Office; <br />3 Gartman and � S Helpers in Street Department; <br />l Office Clerk and 3 Laborers in City Cemetery Department <br />1 Aviation Board Clerk; <br />1 City Plan Secretary; and <br />Be it further resolved that the office of Legal Advisor in the Water Works DezrartmEnt <br />be eliminated; and <br />Be it still further resolved that the City Clerk forthwith transmit a certified copy <br />of this resolution to the Mayor and to each of the executive departments of the City; and <br />Be it still further resolved that within five (5) days after receipt from the <br />City Clerk of a certified copy of this resolution, the May-ora and also the heads of the <br />several executive departments of the city separately notify the Common Council by written <br />report of the action: taken in the premises.' <br />On Motion of Councilman Hiss the Resolution was" adopted.' Motion carried. <br />RESOLUTION. INTRODUCED BY COUNCILMAN ANDREW M. ROKOP. <br />WHEREAS, there is need for the immediate curtailment of municipal expenses and the <br />reduction of official salaries of the City of South Bend, Indiana; and <br />WHEREAS the Common Council of said City has heretofore received from its fees and <br />salaries committee certain recommendation relating thereto; therefore <br />It is hereby resolved that it is the sense of the Common Council of the City of <br />South Bend, Indiana, that, effective June 1, 19322 the annual salaries of the following <br />municipal city officials be as follows, to —wit: <br />Mayor <br />$6,000.00 <br />City Controller <br />4,900.00 <br />Deputy City Controller <br />2,250.00 <br />City Clerk <br />41080.00 <br />Deputy City Clerk <br />2,250.'00 <br />12425.00 <br />Additional Deputy City Clerk <br />4,800.00 <br />City Treasurer <br />Deputy City Treasurer <br />2,250.00 <br />City Judge <br />4,900:00 <br />City Court Probation Officer <br />22250900 <br />Members of the Common Council, each <br />900.00 <br />x-,250.00 <br />City Attorney <br />Members of Board of Public Works, each <br />3,060.00 <br />Clerk of Board of Public Wo -rks <br />Engineer <br />1,900.00 <br />4- <br />City Civil <br />Members of Board of Public Safety, each <br />2080.00 <br />121+0.00 <br />Clerk ,of Board of Public Safety <br />13,710-"00 <br />It is hereby further resolved that the City Clerk forthwith certify a copy of this <br />resolution to the City Controller and that within-five (5) days after receipt from the <br />City Clerk of a copy of this.resoltution the said Controller secure appropriate waivers <br />from each and every official hereinsbove set out releasing the municipal city of South <br />Bend, Indiana, from any and all liabilities and obligations for the difference between <br />the annual salariesmherein set out and the salaries for the same officials as now fixed <br />by ordinance; and <br />Be -it fta still further resolved that in case any appointive official refuse or <br />neglect within the said five (5) days to sign and execute an appropriate waiver as above <br />suggested, then and in that event the said Controller is hereby directed to communicate <br />such information to the Mayor, and the Mayor should remove such official immediately and <br />refail.l the vacancy thereby established by one who will accept the salary indicated in this <br />resolution.' In the event that such refusal or neglect be on the part of any elective <br />official then such information should be given by the Controller to the Common Council.' <br />On Motionr_of Councilman Cripe the Resolution was adopted.
