<br />City of South Bend, Ind.
<br />Gentlemen: —
<br />In compliance with the provisions of an Act concerning
<br />Munincipal Corporations, . approved March 6, 1905, I here -
<br />with submit my report of the financial transactions of the
<br />City for the year ending December 31, 1931
<br />In the pages following you will find complete tabulated
<br />statements and statistics, showing all receipts and disburse-
<br />ments for the year, the detailed expenditures of the various
<br />departments, the conditions of all funds, the balances in
<br />the hands of the Treasurer and total assets and liabilities of
<br />the City at the end of the fiscal year.
<br />There are also included comparative statements of re-
<br />ceipts and disbursements for the past eight years and the 1
<br />budget for the year 1932 showing appropriations in effect
<br />for the various departments.
<br />The bonding transactions of the year 19311 and the
<br />bonded debt of the City are as follows:

<br />__ turned by the Board of Equalization_ , and shown by the
<br />Auditor's report of ,January 1, 1932, is j$206,252,760.00
<br />from which are deducted mortgage exemptions to the amount
<br />of x$6,927,250.00, leaving the net valuation of taxable prop -
<br />erty x$199,325,560.00.
<br />*$6,557.50 is on deposit in Chase National Bank, New
<br />York, to redeem. General Purpose and Water Works Cou-
<br />pons on Bonds.
<br />For the year 1932 the Common Council has made the
