INTER - OFFICE MEMORANDUM
DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC WORKS
. DIVISION OF ENGINEERING
TO: . Linda Martin, Clerk Board of Works
FROM: Tony Molnar
SUBJECT: Library Alley Vacation
DATE: July 3, 2013
Please find attached a map showing the portion of the North /South alley adjacent. to
the Main Branch of the St. Joseph County Public Library. The Board considered
this vacation before but Jitin Kain, Community Investment raised issues about
access to City owned property that faces on Michigan Street. In an e-mail sent to
the Library June 20, 2013 Jitin indicated that the City would agree to the vacation if
the Library agreed to vacate only a portion of the alley. The attached map shows a
vacation of 225 feet of the alley from Wayne Street to the South end of the Library
building which leaves sufficient area for access to the City owned lots. Jitin also
indicated that the City would be agreeable to allowing the Library to landscape the
vacated alley as they had proposed.
If you have any questions, please let me know.
Thanks,
Tony
F :IDATAISHAREIENG INEERIWPDATAImemoboa rd_wpd
