ORDINANCE NO. 6395 -78 AN ORDINANCE APPROPRIATING $35,000.00 FROM THE COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT BLOCK GRANT FUND, FOR THE PROVISION OF PUBLIC SERVICES (LEGAL AID), TO BE ADMINISTERED BY THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND THROUGH ITS DIVISION OF COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT AND THE LEGAL SERVICES PROGRAM OF NORTHERN INDIANA, INC. STATEMENT OF 'PURPOSE AND INTENT: The purpose of the Legal Services.- Community Development Project is to provide an adequate level of high quality legal representation in civil matters to all low and moderate in- come persons residing in the Community Development Neighbor- hood Strategy Areas who cannot otherwise afford the services of a private attorney, and to apprise, counsel, and represent individuals and groups in the Community Development Neighbor - hood Strategy Areas on specific legal issues including, but not limited to consumer rights, landlord- tenant relationships, housing and homeownership problems. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED by the Common Council of the City of South Bend, Indiana, as follows: SECTION I. The sum of $35,000.00 is hereby appropriated for the program year starting August 1, .1978, from the City of South Bend's Community Development Block Grant Fund (Program Year 1978). The appropriation shall be used within the boundaries of the Community Development Neighborhood Strategy Areas as approved by the United States Department of Housing and Urban Development under Title Twenty -Four (24), Code of Federal Regulations Part Five Hundred and Seventy (570) for the Program Year 1978. The appropriation shall be administered by the Division of Community Development and the Legal Services Program of Northern Indiana, Inc. COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM PROGRAM -CD -78 -801 PURPOSE AMOUNT Provision of Public Services $35,000.00 (Legal Aid) SECTION II. This Ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and after its passage by the Common Council and its approval by the Mayor. Passed, as amended, July 10, 1978
