ORDINANCE NO. 6S R'Q•7 g <br />AN ORDINANCE FIXING THE ANNUAL PAY OF <br />FIREFIGHTERS FOR THE CALENDAR YEAR 1979. <br />BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND, <br />AS FOLLOWS: <br />SECTION I. The annual pay of the officers and members of the fire <br />force of the City of South Bend for the year 1979 by rank, classification <br />and service years shall be as follows: <br />Chief...... ...................$21,000 <br />Assistant Chief ............................. 19,400 <br />Battalion Chief ............................. 16,900 <br />Captain ....... 14,450 <br />Lieutenant.................................. 14,250 <br />Engineers ......Service Years <br />3- 5 ....................... 12,500 <br />5- 6 ....................... 12,750 <br />6- 7 ....................... 13,000 <br />7- 8....................... 13,250 <br />8 -9 . . ..................... 13,500 <br />9�,0 <br />1....e ................ 13,750 <br />10 & above ................ 14,000 <br />Firefighter First Class ..................... 11,200 <br />Firefighter ................................. 11,000 <br />Firefighter -in- Training 10,750 <br />The first service year for a firefighter commences upon his being <br />sworn in as a firefighter. The firefighter shall obtain his second <br />service year on the next succeeding first day of January until he at- <br />tains the maximum salary for the particular rank he may hold. <br />SECTION II. In Addition to the foregoing annual pay, the officers <br />and members of the fire force shall receive compensation for extra duty <br />and special performance as follows: <br />(a) For recall or overtime pay, time and -one -half. <br />(b) For regularly assigned drivers of fire trucks and other <br />heavy equipment, the tillerman, and personnel assigned to drive <br />ambulances on regular or rotation basis, $250 per year. <br />(c) For regularly assigned scuba divers, $225.00 per year. <br />(d) Firemen performing paramedic duties will be paid at a <br />level which is a maximum of $800.00 dollars over the base pay for <br />their rank. <br />(e) For all personnel required to work on holidays, the <br />payment shall be as follows: Those persons working from midnight <br />to 7:00 a.m., payment shall be $16.00; those persons working <br />7:00 a.m., to midnight, shall receive $32.00. <br />(f) The holiday pay shall apply to holidays listed below <br />and no others: <br />New Year's Day Fourth of July <br />Lincoln's Birthday Labor Day <br />Washington's Birthday Columbus Day <br />Good Friday Veteran's Day <br />Easter Sunday Thanksgiving <br />Memorial Day Christmas <br />
