COMMITTEE OF THE WHOLE MEETING OCTOBER 23. 1967 <br />Be it remembered that the Common Council of the City of South Bend, Indiana, met in the Committee of the <br />Whole in the Council Chambers of City Hall on Monday, October 23, 1967 at 8:00 P.M. All members were present <br />except Councilmen Wise, Geib and Muszynski. The meeting was called to order by Chairman Edwin T. Smith, <br />who presided. Chairman Smith explained that Councilmen Wise and Geib were absent due to previous business <br />committments requiring they be out of the City. <br />Church <br />Chairman Smith introduced Reverend Orla Bradford, Broadway Evangelical United Brethern/ who gave the invocation. <br />Chairman Smith then welcomed members of a Notre Dame University government class, who were in attendance, <br />and twenty provisional members of the Junior League. <br />ORDINANCE <br />AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTER 15 OF THE MUNICIPAL <br />CODE OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA, 1962 <br />This being the time heretofore set for public hearing on the above Ordinance, proponents and opponents were <br />given an opportunity to be heard thereon. Speaking in favor of the Ordinance was Cecil McHenry, Fire Chief. <br />Councilman Allen made a motion for recess. Time: 9:25 P.M. Councilman Palmer seconded the motion. Motion <br />carried. Reconvened: 9:35 P.M. Councilman Hunter made a motion that the Ordinance go to the Council as <br />favorable. Councilman Palmer seconded the motion. Motion carried. <br />ORDINANCE <br />AN ORDINANCE FOR ADDITIONAL APPROPRIATIONS FROM <br />THE MOTOR VEHICLE HIGHWAY FUND IN THE AMOUNT <br />OF $8,412.00 TO VARIOUS ACCOUNTS WITHIN THE <br />MOTOR VEHICLE HIGHWAY FUND. <br />This being the time heretofore set for public hearing on the above Ordinance, proponents and<;opponents were <br />given an opportunity to be heard thereon. Speaking in favor of the Ordinance was James A. Bickel, City <br />Controller. Councilman Laven made a motion that the Ordinance go to the Council as favorable.
