475 <br />There being no further business before the Council, Councilman Szymkowiak made a motion to adjourn. <br />Councilman Geib seconded the motion. Time: 9:15 P.M. <br />INFORMAL PUBLIC HEARING ON BUDGET ORDINANCE FOR 1968 <br />August 14, 1967 <br />Be it remembered that members of the Common Council met in the Police Classroom of the Municipal Services <br />Facility at 9:30 P.M., with all members present. In accordance with a custom set in the past few years, <br />the meeting was called for the purpose of an informal public hearing on the proposed budget for 1968. The <br />meeting was called to order by Chairman of the Committee of the Whole, Edwin T. Smith, who presided. <br />Each department was considered separately and speaking on the proposed budget were the following: Mayor Lloyd Allen <br />Miss Virginia Guthrie, Executive Secretary of the South Bend Civic Planning Association; City-Controller, James <br />A. Bickel, Kathryn L. Blough, City Clerk; Robert J. Dueomb, City Attorney; Dr. Harry J. McGrane, Veterinarian; <br />Mrs. Raymond Flanaghan, President of the Humane - Society; A. E. Tovey, Manager of the Morris Civic Auditorium; <br />Lloyd Taylor, City Engineer, Forrest..West, Building Commissioner; Clifton P. Engle, Cemetery Sexton; Thomas <br />McNaughton, Police Chief; Jack Bland, Chairman of the Salaries Committee of the South Bend Firefighters <br />Association; Cecil McHenry, Fire Chief; A recess was called at 11 :00 P.M. Reconvened: 11 :10 P.M. Speaking <br />further on the budget were Richard Gartner, Street Commissioner; Clem Hazinski, Traffic Engineer; Eugene Zimmer, <br />Manager, Municipal Services Facility; Eugene Radecki, Electrical Superintendent; John Hunt, Radio Department; <br />Frank Kolosczar, Sanitation Department; Charles VanDeVeire, Park Superintendent; Howard Bellinger, Executive <br />Director of the Urban Redevelopment Commission and George Neagu,.Executive Director of the Human Relations <br />and Fair Employment Practices Commission. <br />The meeting was adjourned at 12 :40 A.M., August 15, 1967. <br />ATTEST: <br />APPROVED: <br />IDENT <br />0 <br />
