REGULAR MEFTTNG May 8, 1967 <br />ORDINANCES, FIRST AND SECOND READING <br />ORDINANCE <br />AN ORDINANCE REGULATING THE SOLICITATION OF FUNDS <br />FROM RESIDENTS OF THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND AND PRO- <br />VIDING PENALTIES WHERE SUCH SOLICITATION HAS BEEN <br />FRAUDULENTLY CONDUCTED OR REPRESENTED. <br />The Ordinance was given first reading by title and second reading in full. Councilman Szymkowiak made a <br />motion that the Ordinance be set for public hearing on May 22, 1967. Councilman Laven seconded <br />the motion. Motion carried. <br />ORDINANCES, FIRST AND SECOND READING <br />ORDINANCE <br />AN ORDINANCE DETERMINING THAT IT IS IN THE PUBLIC <br />INTEREST TO ACQUIRE THE MASS TRANSPORTATION SYSTEM <br />OF NORTHERN INDIANA TRANSIT, INC., WHICH SHALL BE <br />A DISTINCT MUNICIPAL CORPORATION AND WHICH SHALL BE <br />KNOWN AS "THE SOUTH BEND PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION <br />CORPORATION" AND DEFINING THE CORPORATE LIMITS OF <br />SAID CORPORATION. <br />The Ordinance was given first reading by title and second reading in full. Councilman Geib made a motion <br />that the Ordinance be sent to the Transportation Committee , and that a report from that committee be given <br />to the Council on May 22, 1967, with public hearing to be held on June 12, 1967. Councilman Palmer seconded <br />the motion. Motion carried. <br />President Hunter then read a communication from the American Association of University Women informing <br />the Council that one of their two representatives to the Council, Mrs. H. Park Tyler, is being replaced <br />by Mrs. David B. Weisman. Mrs. Robert M. Parker remains'as their other representative. <br />President Hunter welcomed members of a Civics class from John Adams High School, and thanked them for <br />attending. <br />There being no further business before the Council, Councilman Muszynski made a motion to adjourn.
