<br />ACCOUNT XX72, "MOTOR EQUIPMENT" IN THE SANITATION
<br />DEPARTMENT ALL BEING IN THE GENERAL FUND.

<br />AN ORDINANCE FOR AN ADDITIONAL APPROPRIATION TO
<br />ACCOUNT K -72, "EQUIPMENT ", IN THE AMOUNT OF
<br />$500.00 AND THE TRANSFER IN THE SAME AMOUNT
<br />FROM ACCOUNT K -26, "OTHER CONTRACTUAL SERVICES ", .
<br />IN THE MORRIS CIVIC AUDITORIUM BUDGET ALL
<br />BEING IN THE GENERAL FUND.
<br />The Ordinance was given first reading by title and second reading in full. Councilman Szymkowiak made a motion
<br />that the Ordinance be set for public hearing on May 8, 1967. Councilman Laven seconded the motion. Motion
<br />carried.
<br />RESOLUTION
<br />RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA COMMON COUNCIL
<br />APPROVING REQUEST FOR FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE TO PLAN AND DEVELOP
<br />A COMPREHENSIVE CITY DEMONSTRATION PROGRAM.
<br />WHEREAS, the City of South Bend, Indiana desires to undertake a comprehensive program to rebuild or
<br />revitalize blighted and deteriorating areas and generally improve living conditions for the people who live
<br />in such areas; and
<br />WHEREAS, the Secretary of Housing and Urban Development is authorized to make grants to, and contract
<br />with, City Demonstration Agencies to pay 80 percent of the coasts of planning and developing such city demon-
<br />stration programs:
<br />NOW, THEREFORE, be it resolved by the Common Council of the City of South Bend, Indiana as follows:
<br />Approval is hereby granted (1) for the submission of a request for financial assistance for the planning
<br />and development of a comprehensive city demonstration program: (2) for the provision of any information or
<br />documentation concerning the preparation and content of such program as may be required by the Department
<br />of Housing and Urban Development; and (3) for the representation by Lloyd M. Allen, Mayor, as the authorized
<br />representative empowered to act on behalf of the City of South Bend, County of St, Joseph, State of Indiana
<br />in connection with all matters pertaining to the request for financial assistance.

<br />Speaking in favor of the Resolution were: Mayor Lloyd M. Allen, Mrs. G. Walter Erickson and Councilmen
<br />Smith, Laven and Szymkowiak. Speaking against the Resolution were: Howard W. Fleming, representing
<br />the South Bend - Mishawaka Board of Realtors; grant Lewis, and Councilmen Hunter, Allen, Palmer, Wise and Geib.
<br />Councilman Szymkowiak made a motion that the Resolution be adopted by a roll call vote. Councilman Smith
<br />seconded the motion. Motion carried. The Resolution was lost by a roll call vote of 4 ayes, Councilmen
<br />Szymkowiak, Laven, Smith and Muszynski, 5 nays, Councilmen Hunter, Allen, Palmer, Wise and Geib,
<br />0 absent.
