$E�I�L�R MEETT�IG JANUARY ZJ, 1'101 <br />ORDINANCES, FIRST AND SECOND READING <br />ORDINANCE <br />AN ORDINANCE FIXING THE ANNUAL SALARIES, PAYABLE <br />FROM THE GENERAL FUND, FOR OFFICERS OF THE CITY <br />OF SOUTH BEND TO BE ELECTED FOR THE TERM COMMENCING <br />JANUARY 1, 1968 AND FIXING THE TIME WHEN THE SAME <br />SHALL TAKE EFFECT. <br />The Ordinance was given first reading by title and second reading in full. Councilman Geib made a motion <br />to amend the Ordinance in the line for the Common Council salary to show an amount of $3,600.00. Councilman <br />Palmer seconded the motion. The motion was defeated by a roll call vote of 4 ayes (Councilmen Hunter, <br />Palmer, Geib and Muszynski), 5 nays (Councilmen Allen, Wise, Szymkowiak, Laven and Smith) 0 absent. Councilman <br />Geib then made a motion to amend the Ordinance to show an amount of $3,000.00 as the salary for the councilmen. <br />Councilman Palmer seconded the motion. Motion carried by a roll call vote of 5 ayes (Councilmen Hunter, Palmer, <br />Wise, Geib and Muszynski), 4 nays (Councilmen Allen, Szymkowiak, Laven and Smith) 0 absent. Councilman Geib <br />made a motion that the Ordinance, as amended, be set for public hearing on March 13, 1967. Councilman Palmer <br />seconded the motion. Motion carried. <br />Councilman Geib moved that an Ordinance added to the agenda during the early part of the meeting, which also <br />dealt with fees and salaries,now be withdrawn. Councilman Allen seconded the motion. Motion carried. <br />RESOLUTION <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br />SOUTH BEND, INDIANA <br />WHEREAS, the County of St. Joseph acting by and through the Board of County Commissioners of St. Joseph <br />County will construct a new County -City Building, a new County Jail, and will remodel the existing St. <br />Joseph County Courthouse; and, Whereas the City of South Bend has executed a certain Lease for portions <br />of said County -City Building and it is to the advantage to the City of South Bend to minimize costs of <br />said construction and remodeling. <br />BE IT THEREFORE RESOLVED that the Building Commissioner of the City of South Bend is hereby authorized <br />and directed to issue the necessary building permits for the construction of the new County -City Building <br />and the construction of the new St. Joseph County Jail and for the remodeling of the existing St. Joseph <br />County Courthouse without payment of fees as set forth in the Municipal Code of the City of South Bend, Indiana, <br />1962, which fees are hereby expressly waived. <br />This resolution shall be in full force and effect upon the adoption of the Common Council and approval <br />of the Mayor. <br />/s/ John L. Hunter, Jr. <br />Member of the Common Council <br />Councilman Smith made a motion that the Resolution be referred to the Fees and Salaries Committee. Councilman <br />Geib seconded the motion. Motion carried. <br />There being no further business before the Council, Councilman Smith made a motion to adjourn. Councilman <br />Geib seconded the motion.
