<br />RESOLUTION NO. 135 -66
<br />RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING FILING OF APPLICATION WITH THE STREAM
<br />POLLUTION CONTROL BOARD OF THE STATE OF INDIANA FOR FEDERAL
<br />GRANT FOR SEWAGE TREATMENT WORKS UNDER 33 U.S.C. SECTION 466
<br />PROVIDING FOR FUNDS FROM THE DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH, EDUCATION,
<br />AND WELFARE.
<br />WHEREAS, Under the terms of 33 U.S.C. Section 466 the United States of America has authorized the making of grants
<br />to aid in financing the construction of sewage treatment works through the Department of Health, Education, and
<br />Welfare upon application made to the State Water Pollution Control Agendy of the respective State.
<br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND:
<br />1. That Utilities Superintendent, Howard R. Goodhew, be and he is hereby authorized to execute and file an
<br />application on behalf of the City of South Bend with the State Water Pollution Control Agency of the State of
<br />Indiana, which agency is known as the Stream Pollution Control Board of the State of Indiana, for a grant to aid
<br />in financing the construction of:
<br />Improvements to existing Waste Water Treatment Plant to provide for Chlorination of final effluent to reduce
<br />pollution of the St. Joseph River and to provide for sanitary sludge disposal and mechanization of primary screen
<br />trash racks at plant.
<br />2. That Howard R. Goodhew, Utilities Superintendent, be and he is hereby authorized and directed to furnish such
<br />information as the Stream Pollution Control Board of the State of Indiana or the Department of Health, Education,
<br />and Welfare, may reasonably request in connection with the application which is herein authorized to be filed.

<br />Councilman Wise made a motion for suspension of rules. Councilman Laven seconded the motion.Motion carried.
<br />Mr. Howard Goodhew, Water Works Superintendent spoke in favor of adoption of the Resolution. Councilman Smith::made
<br />motion to adopt the Resolution by a roll call vote. Councilman Palmer seconded the motion. Motion carried. The
<br />Resolution was adopted by a roll call vote of 7 ayes (Councilmen Hunter, Allen, Palmer, Wise, Szymkowiak, Laven
<br />and Smith) 0 nays, 2 absent(Councilmen Geib and Muszynski)
<br />ORDINANCE, FIRST AND SECOND READING
<br />AN ORDINANCE APPROPRIATING MONIES FOR THE PURPOSE OF DEFRAYING
<br />THE EXPENSES OF ALL BUDGET OPERATED DEPARTMENTS OF THE CIVIL
<br />CITY OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA, FOR THE FISCAL YEAR BEGINNING
<br />JANUARY 1, 1967, AND ENDING DECEMBER 31, 1967 INCLUDING DEPART-
<br />MENTS, FUNDS AND COMMISSIONS FOR WHICH MONEY IS APPROPRIATED IN
<br />WHOLE OR IN PART, FROM THE GENERAL FUND AND FROM FUNDS OTHER THAN
<br />THE GENERAL FUND, OF SAID CITY TO -WIT: PARK DEPARTMENT, FIREMEN'S
<br />PENSION FUND, POLICE PENSION FUND, URBAN REDEVELOPMENT FUND,
<br />URBAN REDEVELOPMENT BOND FUND, HUMAN RELATIONS
<br />AND FAIR EMPLOYMENT PRACTICES COMMISSION, BUILDING DEMOLITION REPAIR AND
<br />CONTINGENT FUND, PARK DISTRICT FUND, GENERAL SINKING FUND, HOSPITAL
<br />FUND, ART ASSOCIATION FUND, MOTOR VEHICLE HIGHWAY FUND AND THE
<br />CUMULATIVE CAPITAL IMPROVEMENT FUND; PROVIDING THAT SUCH APPROPRIATIONS
<br />SHALL INCLUDE OUTSTANDING CLAIMS AND OBLIGATIONS: FIXING THE
<br />SALARIES OF ALL CITY OFFICIALS AND EMPLOYEES, REPEALING ALL ORD-
<br />INANCES IN CONFLICT HEREWITH: PROVIDING A TIME WHEN THE SAME SHALL
<br />TAKE EFFECT.
