COMMITTEE OF THE WHOLE MEETING SEPTEMBER 27 1965 <br />Be it remembered that the Common Council of the City of South Bend, Indiana, met in the Committee of the Whole <br />in the Council Chambers in the City Hall on Monday, September 27, f965, at 8:00 P.M. with all members present <br />except Councilmen Glass and Palmer. The meeting was called to order by Councilman Edwin Thomas Smith, who <br />presided. <br />Councilman Smith then introduced Reverend Clifford 0. Nantz, Executive Director of the Council of Churches of <br />South Bend, Indiana, who read the invocation. <br />Councilman Smith velcomed-Aiembers of the Junior League of South Bend, who were attending the meeting. <br />ORDINANCE <br />AN ORDINANCE ANNEXING TO AND BRINGING WITHIN THE <br />CITY LIMITS OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA, CERTAIN LANDS, <br />Commonly known as the Jackson School Property. <br />This being the time heretofore set for public hearing on the above Ordinance, proponents and opponents were <br />given an opportunity to be heard thereon. Councilman Hunter made a motion that the ordinance go to the <br />Council as favorable. Councilman Wise seconded the motion. Motion carried. <br />ORDINANCE <br />AN ORDINANCE PROVIDING FOR THE ANNEXATION OF <br />CERTAIN TERRITORY TO THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA, <br />A four and one half acre tract, Centre Township <br />Quarter Mile South Jackson Road, near York Road. <br />This being the time heretofore set for public hearing on the above ordinance, proponents and opponents <br />were given an opportunity to be heard thereon. Councilman Muszynski made a motion that the ordinance <br />go to the Council as favorable. Councilman Szymkowiak seconded the motion. Motion carried. <br />ORDINANCE <br />AN ORDINANCE AMENDING ARTICLE 4, CHAPTER 16 <br />OF THE MUNICIPAL CODE OF THE CITY OF SOUTH <br />BEND, INDIANA, BEING ORDINANCE 4329 AND <br />REPEALING PORTIONS THEREOF. (Weed Ordinance) <br />This being the time heretofore set for public hearing on the above Ordinance, proponents and opponents were <br />given an opportunity to be heard thereon. Councilman Szymkowiak made a motion that the ordinance go to the <br />Council as favorable. Councilman Allen seconded the motion. Motion carried. <br />ORDINANCE <br />AN ORDINANCE APPROVING A CONTRACT BETWEEN <br />THE WATER WORK& OF THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND <br />AND JORDAN MOTORS, INC. FOR THE PURCHASE <br />OF ONE 1966 FORD 2h TON DUMP TRUCK IN THE <br />SUM OF $3,2413.35. <br />This being the time heretofore set for public hearing on the above Ordinance, proponents and opponents were <br />given an opportunity to be heard thereon. Councilman Wise made a motion that the ordinance go to the <br />Council as favorable. Councilman Muszynski seconded the motion. Motion Carried. <br />ORDINANCE <br />AN ORDINANCE FOR ADDITIONAL APPROPRIATIONS TO <br />THE OTHER EQUIPMENT ACCOUNT OF THE CITY CEMETERIES <br />DEPARTMENT IN THE AMOUNT OF $300.00 AND THE <br />TRANSFER OF THE SAME FROM THE TREE TRIMMING, <br />ACCOUNT OF THE CITY CEMETERIES DEPARTMENT, ALL <br />IN THE GENERAL FUND. <br />This being the time heretofore set for public hearing on the above Ordinance_, proponents and opponents were <br />given an opportunity to be heard thereon. Councilman Hunter made a motion that the ordinance go to the <br />Council as favorable. Councilman Geib seconded the motion. Motion carried. <br />ORDINANCE <br />AN ORDINANCE FOR ADDITIONAL APPROPRIATIONS <br />TO THE SUPPLIES ACCOUNT OF THE ELECTRICAL <br />DEPARTMENT IN THE AMOUNT OF $1,335.00 AND <br />THE TRANSFER OF THE SAME FROM THE SERVICES - <br />PERSONAL ACCOUNT OF THE ELECTRICAL DEPARTMENT; <br />ALL IN THE GENERAL FUND. <br />This being the time heretofore set for public hearing on the above ordinance, proponents and opponents were <br />given an opportunity to be heard thereon. Councilman Muszynski made a motion that the ordinance go to the <br />Council as favorable. Councilman Szymkowiak seconded the motion. Motion carried. <br />ORDINANCE <br />AN ORDINANCE FOR ADDITIONAL APPROPRIATIONS TO <br />THE SERVICES- CONTRACTRAL ACCOUNT OF THE FIRE <br />DEPARTMENT IN THE AMOUNT OF $1,500.00 AND THE <br />TRANSFER OF THE SAME FROM THE SERVICES - PERSONAL <br />ACCOUNT OF THE FIRE DEPARTMENT, ALL IN THE GENERAL <br />FUND <br />This being the time heretofore set for public hearing on the above ordinance, proponents and opponents were <br />given an opportunity to be heard thereon. Councilman Muszynski made a motion that the ordinance go to the <br />Council as favorable. Councilman Szymkowiak seconded the motion. Motion carried. <br />
