COMMITTEE OF THE WHOLE MEETING SEPTEMBER 27 1965 Be it remembered that the Common Council of the City of South Bend, Indiana, met in the Committee of the Whole in the Council Chambers in the City Hall on Monday, September 27, f965, at 8:00 P.M. with all members present except Councilmen Glass and Palmer. The meeting was called to order by Councilman Edwin Thomas Smith, who presided. Councilman Smith then introduced Reverend Clifford 0. Nantz, Executive Director of the Council of Churches of South Bend, Indiana, who read the invocation. Councilman Smith velcomed-Aiembers of the Junior League of South Bend, who were attending the meeting. ORDINANCE AN ORDINANCE ANNEXING TO AND BRINGING WITHIN THE CITY LIMITS OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA, CERTAIN LANDS, Commonly known as the Jackson School Property. This being the time heretofore set for public hearing on the above Ordinance, proponents and opponents were given an opportunity to be heard thereon. Councilman Hunter made a motion that the ordinance go to the Council as favorable. Councilman Wise seconded the motion. Motion carried. ORDINANCE AN ORDINANCE PROVIDING FOR THE ANNEXATION OF CERTAIN TERRITORY TO THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA, A four and one half acre tract, Centre Township Quarter Mile South Jackson Road, near York Road. This being the time heretofore set for public hearing on the above ordinance, proponents and opponents were given an opportunity to be heard thereon. Councilman Muszynski made a motion that the ordinance go to the Council as favorable. Councilman Szymkowiak seconded the motion. Motion carried. ORDINANCE AN ORDINANCE AMENDING ARTICLE 4, CHAPTER 16 OF THE MUNICIPAL CODE OF THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA, BEING ORDINANCE 4329 AND REPEALING PORTIONS THEREOF. (Weed Ordinance) This being the time heretofore set for public hearing on the above Ordinance, proponents and opponents were given an opportunity to be heard thereon. Councilman Szymkowiak made a motion that the ordinance go to the Council as favorable. Councilman Allen seconded the motion. Motion carried. ORDINANCE AN ORDINANCE APPROVING A CONTRACT BETWEEN THE WATER WORK& OF THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND AND JORDAN MOTORS, INC. FOR THE PURCHASE OF ONE 1966 FORD 2h TON DUMP TRUCK IN THE SUM OF $3,2413.35. This being the time heretofore set for public hearing on the above Ordinance, proponents and opponents were given an opportunity to be heard thereon. Councilman Wise made a motion that the ordinance go to the Council as favorable. Councilman Muszynski seconded the motion. Motion Carried. ORDINANCE AN ORDINANCE FOR ADDITIONAL APPROPRIATIONS TO THE OTHER EQUIPMENT ACCOUNT OF THE CITY CEMETERIES DEPARTMENT IN THE AMOUNT OF $300.00 AND THE TRANSFER OF THE SAME FROM THE TREE TRIMMING, ACCOUNT OF THE CITY CEMETERIES DEPARTMENT, ALL IN THE GENERAL FUND. This being the time heretofore set for public hearing on the above Ordinance_, proponents and opponents were given an opportunity to be heard thereon. Councilman Hunter made a motion that the ordinance go to the Council as favorable. Councilman Geib seconded the motion. Motion carried. ORDINANCE AN ORDINANCE FOR ADDITIONAL APPROPRIATIONS TO THE SUPPLIES ACCOUNT OF THE ELECTRICAL DEPARTMENT IN THE AMOUNT OF $1,335.00 AND THE TRANSFER OF THE SAME FROM THE SERVICES - PERSONAL ACCOUNT OF THE ELECTRICAL DEPARTMENT; ALL IN THE GENERAL FUND. This being the time heretofore set for public hearing on the above ordinance, proponents and opponents were given an opportunity to be heard thereon. Councilman Muszynski made a motion that the ordinance go to the Council as favorable. Councilman Szymkowiak seconded the motion. Motion carried. ORDINANCE AN ORDINANCE FOR ADDITIONAL APPROPRIATIONS TO THE SERVICES- CONTRACTRAL ACCOUNT OF THE FIRE DEPARTMENT IN THE AMOUNT OF $1,500.00 AND THE TRANSFER OF THE SAME FROM THE SERVICES - PERSONAL ACCOUNT OF THE FIRE DEPARTMENT, ALL IN THE GENERAL FUND This being the time heretofore set for public hearing on the above ordinance, proponents and opponents were given an opportunity to be heard thereon. Councilman Muszynski made a motion that the ordinance go to the Council as favorable. Councilman Szymkowiak seconded the motion. Motion carried.
