REGULAR MEETING NOVEMBER 9T1964 ORDINANCE NO. 4707 - -64 AN ORDINANCE APPROVING A CONTRACT BETWEEN THE SOUTH BEND CITY WATER WORKS AND THE B.I.F. DIVISION OF THE NEW YORK AIR BRAKE CO., FOR CONTROL AND METERING EQUIPMENT IN THE SUM OF $4030868.00. The ordinance was given first reading by title and second reading in full. Councilman Szymkowiak made a motion for suspension of rules. Councilman Palmer seconded the motion. Motion carried by a roll call vote of 8 ayes - 1 absent (Councilman Wise). The ordinance was given third reading and passed by a roll call vote of 8-'ayes - 1 absent (Councilman Wise). ORDINANCE NO. 4708 - -64 AN ORDINANCE APPROVING A CONTRACT BETWEEN THE SOUTH.BEND CITY WATER WORKS AND WALLACE & TIERNAN, INC., FOR CHLORINE FEEDING EQUIPMENT IN THE SUM OF $1710371.00. The ordinance was given first reading by title and second reading in full. Councilman Glass made a motion for suspension of rules. Councilman Szymkowiak seconded the motion. Motion carried by a roll call vote of 8 ayes - 1 absent (Councilman Wise). The ordinance was given third reading and passed by a roll call vote of 8 ayes - 1 absent (Councilman Wise). ORDINANCE, FIRST & SECOND READING AN ORDINANCE FOR ADDITIONAL APPROPRIATIONS FROM THE GENERAL FUND TO THE 1963 CITY ELECTION BUDGET ACCOUNT IN THE AMOUNT OF $11,908.56. Councilman Smith made a motion that the ordinance be referred to the Elections Committee for study. Councilman Geib seconded the motion. After some discussion, Councilman Smith withdrew his motion and Councilman Geib withdrew his second to the motion. The ordinance was given first reading by title and second reading in full. Councilman Glass made a motion that the ordinance be set for public hearing on November 23, 1964. Councilman Szymkowiak seconded the motion. Motion carried. ORDINANCE, FIRST & SECOND READING AN ORDINANCE PERTAINING TO THE SANITATION OF FOOD AND BEVERAGE VENDING, TO LICENSES AND PERMITS APPLICABLE THERETO, ESTABLISHING MINIMUM SANITATION STANDARDS, AND DEFINING TERMS AND REPEALING ALL ORDINANCES IN CONFLICT HEREWITH. The ordinance was given first reading by title and second reading in full. Councilman Geib made a motion that the ordinance be set for public hearing on November 23, 1964. Councilman Szymkowiak seconded the motion. Motion carried. ORDINANCE, FIRST & SECOND READING AN ORDINANCE FOR AN ADDITIONAL APPROPRIATION FROM THE GENERAL FUND TO THE POSTAGE ACCOUNT OF THE OFFICE OF CITY CLERK IN THE AMOUNT OF $600.00. The ordinance was given first reading by title and second reading in full. Councilman Geib made a motion that the ordinance be set for public hearing on November 23, 1964. Councilman Palmer seconded the motion. Motion carried. RESOLUTION NO. 84 - -64 RESOLUTION FOR ADDITIONAL APPROPRIATIONS IN THE OIL ACCOUNT OF THE SANITATION DEPARTMENT IN THE AMOUNT OF $150.00 AND THE TRANSFER OF THE SAME FROM THE GASOLINE ACCOUNT IN THE SAME CATEGORY OF THE SANITATION DEPARTMENT,ALL WITHIN THE GENERAL FUND. Councilman Allen moved that the Resolution be amended in the following manner: In the 3rd paragraph WHEREAS clause, delete the word "supply" and substitute the word "surplus ". Councilman Palmer seconded the motion. Motion carried. Resolution amended. The Resolution, as amended, reads as follows: RESOLUTION FOR ADDITIONAL APPROPRIATIONS IN THE OIL ACCOUNT OF THE SANITATION DEPARTMENT IN THE AMOUNT OF $150.00 AND THE TRANSFER OF THE SAME FROM THE GASOLINE ACCOUNT IN THE SAME CATEGORY OF THE SANITATION DEPARTMENT,ALL WITHIN THE GENERAL FUND, AS AMENDED. WHEREAS, Certain extraordinary conditions have developed since the adoption of the existing annual budget, so that it i s now necessary to appropriate more money than was appropriated in the annual budget for the various functions of City Government to meet such extraordinary contingencies; and, WHEREAS, Additional oil is urgently needed by the Sanitation Department to assure its ability to properly perform its function and the sum of One- hundred Fifty ($150.00) Dollars is needed forthwith; and WHEREAS, A surplus exists in another account where it is not presently needed at this time; and more specifically as follows, to -wit: 1. One- hundred Fifty ($150.00) Dollars in Account XX -321 designated as Supplies, gasoline. (Continued)
