REPORT OF TRAFFIC ENGINEER (continued) I have already met with the Inspector of the Uniform Division of the Police Department and studies will be made of vicinity in question. REPORT OF THE COMMITTEE OF THE WHOLE To the Common Council of the City of South Bend: Your Committee of the Whole, to whom was referred AN ORDINANCE FIXING MAXIMUM SALARIES OF APPOINTED OFFICERS AND EMPLOYEES OF THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA, FOR THE YEAR 1964, Respectfully report that they have examined the matter and that in their opinion IT SHOULD BE REPORTED FAVORABLE. /s/ T. ORDINANCE NO. 4591 - - -63 AN ORDINANCE FIXING MAXIMUM SALARIES OF APPOINTED OFFICERS AND EMPLOYEES OF THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA, FOR THE YEAR 1964 The Ordinance was given third reading and passed by a roll call vote of 9 ayes, 0. nays. ORDINANCE AN ORDINANCE APPROPRIATING MONIES FOR THE PURPOSE OF DEFRAYING THE EXPENSES OF ALL BUDGET - OPERATED DEPARTMENTS OF THE CIVIL CITY OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA, FOR THE FISCAL YEAR BEGINNING JANUARY 1, 1961, AND ENDING DECEMBER 31, 1964, INCLUDING DEPARTMENTS, FUNDS AND COMMISSIONS FOR WHICH MONEY IS APPROPRIATED, IN WHOLE OR IN PART, FROM FUNDS OTHER THAN THE GENERAL FUNDS, OF SAID CITY TO -WIT: STREET, TRAFFIC AND PARK DEPARTMENTS, FIREMEN'S PENSION AND POLICEMEN'S PENSION FUNDS, AND THE CITY PLAN AND URBAN REDEVELOP- MENT AND FAIR EMPLOYMENT PRACTICES COMMISSIONS, BUILDING DEMOLITION, REPAIR AND CONTINGENT FUND, PARK DISTRICT FUND, GENERAL SINKING FUND, HOSPITAL FUND, ART ASSOCIATION FUND AND THE URBAN REDEVELOPMENT BOND FUND: PROVIDING THAT SUCH APPROPRIATIONS SHALL INCLUDE ALL OUTSTANDING CLAIMS AND OBLIGATIONS: FIXING THE SALARIES OF ALL CITY OFFICIALS AND EMPLOYEES, REPEALING ALL ORDINANCES AND PARTS OF ORDINANCES IN CONFLICT HEREIWTH: PROVIDING A TIME WHEN THE SAME SHALL TAKE EFFECT. Councilman Lehman made a motion'that the Clerk read the total of each section instead of each item. Councilman Tellson seconded'the motion. Councilman Allen also seconded-the motion. Motion carried unanimously. The Clerk then gave the Ordinance its first reading by title and second reading in full. Councilman Kroll, President announced a five minute recess. The Council recessed at 9:30 P.M. The Council reconvened at 9:45 P.M. Councilman Krueper made a motion that�the annual meeting for the adoption of the budget and tax levy be held on August 26, 1963, at 8:00 P.M. and that there be legal publication in The South Bend Tribune and The Record on August 2nd and August 9th, 1963. Councilman Lehman seconded the motion. Motion carried. Councilman Allen moved that the Committee of the Whole meet on August 19, 1963, at 7:30 P.M., at the Morris Civic Auditorium to hold a public hearing on the budget and tax levy for 1964. Councilman Ladewski seconded the motion. Motion carried. ORDINANCE AN ORDINANCE FIXING THE TAX LEVY FOR THE YEAR 1964 FOR THE CIVIL CITY OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA The Ordinance was given first reading by title and second reading in -full. Councilman Coleman made a motion that the Ordinance be set for public hearing on the 19th of August, 1963 in the Committee of the Whole, the meeting to be held in the Morris Civic Auditorium at 7:30 P.M., and that the adoption of the tax levy be on the 26th day of August, 1963 at 8:00 P.M. Councilman Glass seconded the motion. Motion carried. RESOLUTION No. 41 - - -63 Resolution relative to the death of Sarah Fletcher Allen. Councilman Muszynski moved for the adoption of the Resolution. Councilman Tellson seconded the motion. Motion unanimously carried. Resolution adopted. President Kroll requested the Council to stand for a moment of silent prayer in memory of Sarah Fletcher Allen, daughter of Councilman J. Chester Allen and Mrs. Allen.
