REGULAR MEETING <br />-= ------------================-=========--============ = = = = == <br />MAY 13, 1963 <br />Be it remembered that the Common Council of the City of South Bend, Indiana, met in Regular Session in the Council <br />Chambers, City Hall, Monday, May 13, 1963, at 8:31 P.M., with all members present except Councilman Tellson. The <br />meeting was called to order by President Joseph T. Kroll, who presided. <br />ROLL CALL: <br />PRESENT: Councilmen Kroll, Allen, Ladewski, Coleman, Glass, Krueper, Lehman and Muszynski. <br />ABSENT: Councilman Tellson. <br />REPORT OF COMMITTEE ON MINUTES <br />To the Common Council of the City of South Bend: <br />Your Committee on the inspection and supervision of the minutes, would respectfully report that they have inspected <br />the minutes of the previous meeting of the Council and found them correct. Councilman Muszynski seconded the <br />motion. Motion carried. <br />COMMUNICATION <br />The Clerk read a communication from the St. Joseph County Council of Conservation Clubs, signed by Ray Ashby, Preside <br />The Communication was in the form 6f a Resolution adoped by the Organization urging the erection of a refuse disposal <br />plant of a modern, completely sanitary design to serve all of the citizens and industries of the metropolitan area. <br />Councilman Lehman made a motion that the communication be accepted and placed on file. Councilman Ladewski seconded <br />the motion. Motion carried. <br />PETITION <br />Petition of The Housing Authority to rezone land bounded by Hamilton, Fremont, Marquette Boulevard and Moade Streets. <br />Councilman Allen made a motion that the petition be referred to the City Planning Commission. Councilman Lehman <br />seconded the motion. Motion carried. <br />PETITTON <br />Petition of The Housing Authority to rezone two parcels of land at Laurel and the Grand Trunk Railway. <br />Councilman Lehman made a motion that the petition be referred to the City Planning Commission. Councilman Allen <br />seconded the motion. Motion carried. <br />REPORT OF TRAFFIC AND TRANSPORTATION COMMITTEE <br />To the Common Council of the City of South Bend: <br />Your Committee on Traffic and Transportation, to whom was referred the matter of 1. Police escorts at funeral <br />processions, and 2. Loading zone at the entrance to the downtown Public Library, met at 8 :30 A.M., Saturday, April <br />20th, with the following being present: Councilmen Eugene Ladewski, Joseph Kroll and Walter Glass; Police Chief Or <br />Harman; Traffic Engineer Clem Hazinski; Funeral Directors Raymond Jurek, St. Josepht, Leslie Toth, Zaherans, <br />Max Yena, Welsheimers, John Walsh, Walsh - Bilancio and Dale Brink of Hollis. <br />and <br />Respectfully report that they have examined the matter and that in their opinion <br />1. The public has not been and will not be charged a ten dollar fee for the funeral escort service. <br />2. (thief Harman has promised that police escoatt service will be provided when funeral directors deem it necessary f <br />the public welfare and safety. <br />3. If the police department is notified when the funeral procession route must pass a very busy or hazardous inter - <br />section, a police officer will be stationed at this intersection when the procession passes. <br />
