REPORT OF THE COMMITTEE OF THE WHOLE <br />To the Common Council of the City, of South Bend: <br />Your Committee of the Whole, to whom was referred AN ORDINANCE AMENDING AND SUPPLEMENTING ZONING ORDINANCE NO. 3702, <br />AS HERETOFORE AMENDED AND SUPPLEMENTED (East side of Ironwood, North of Edison Road), Respectfully report that they <br />have examined the matter and that in their opinion IT SHOULD BE REPORTED FAVORABLE. <br />/s/ Eugene Ladewski, Acting Chairman <br />March 26, 1962. <br />Councilman Muszynski made a motion that the report be accepted and placed on file. Councilman Allen made a motion for sus- <br />pension of rules. Councilman Muszynski seconded the motion. Motion carried by a roll call vote of 8 ayes, 0 nays, <br />1 absent (Councilman Lehman). The Clerk then gave the Ordinance its third reading and it was passed by a roll call <br />vote of 8 ayes, 0 nays 1 absent (Councilman-Lehman). <br />RESOLUTION <br />RESOLUTION OF COMMON COUNCIL OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA, APPROVING <br />UNDERTAKING OF GENERAL NEIGHBORHOOD RENEWAL PLAN AND FILING OF <br />APPLICATION FOR FEDERAL ADVANCE OF FUNDS <br />WHEREAS, under Title I of the Housing Act of 1949, as amended, the Housing and Home Finance Administrator is authori <br />to extend financial assistance to localities in the elimination and prevention of the spread of their slums and <br />urban blight through the planning and undertaking of urban renewal projects; and <br />WHEREAS, under Section 102(d) of said Title I, the Housing and Home Finance'Admihigtra.tor may make advance of funds <br />for the preparation of :General Neighborhood Renewal Plans for urban renewal areas of such scope that the urban rene <br />activities therein may have to be carried out in stages over a period of not more than ten (10) years; and <br />WHEREAS, it is desirable and in the public interest that the City of South Bend, Department of Redevelopment prepare <br />such a General Neighborhood Renewal Plan, presently estimated at Eighteen Thousand, Eight Hundred Fifty Dollars <br />($18,850) in that certain area, proposed as an Urban Renewal "Area, situated in the City of South Bend, County of St. <br />Joseph, and State of Indiana, and described as follows: <br />Linden Avenue; proposed park - playground, and the New York Central Railroad <br />on the north; the first alley east of Meade Street on the east; Western <br />Avenue on the south; and the first alley west of Chicago Street on the west. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Common Council, City of South Bend, Indiana as follows: <br />1. That the proposed Urban Renewal Area described above is an area of such scope that it is estimated that the urb <br />renewal activities therein may have to be carried out in stages over a period of not more than ten (10) years. <br />2. That the undertaking by the City of South Bend, Department of Redevelopment of the preparation of a General <br />Neighborhood Renewal Plan for the proposed Urban Renewal Area described above is hereby approved. <br />
