412 REGULAR MEETING COMMUNICATION The City Clerk City Hall South Bend, Indiana. USA Dear S ir: MARCH 26, 1962 THE RETAIL MERCHANTS' ASSOCIATION OF CANADA, INC. March 13, 1962 I would like you to convey to your City Aldermen or Councillors the Congratulations of the Retailers of Manitoba on their passing of local ordinance, licensing T. V. Technicians and antenna installers as reported by the Electronics World, March issue. Ii We, in Manitoba, are attempting to secure such a law for the Province. Would you be kind enough to send us 6 copies so we can see where we may be wrong in what we are asking our local Govermmnent for and /or add any improvements your great city has enacted in your By -law. We believe an Act such as yours:is the only way to protect the public and to build an honest and trustworthy indus and our own provincial Government feels the same way. From the widespread talk of this South Bends Legislation just in Winniped, I am sure it is being repeated all over Canada and the U.S.A. Gunther, Executive Director of The United States Conference of Mayors, Inviting °the Council to attend the Annual Conference of Mayors in Miami Beach, Florida, May 13 -16, at the Fontainebleau Hotel with a post - Conference tour to Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands, May 16 -20, was read. Councilman Glass made a motion that the communication be accepted and placed on file. Councilman Tellson seconded motion. Motion carried. PETITION Petition to annex 13.2 acres of land on Ironwood north of Ireland Road. Councilman Coleman made a motion that the petition be referred to the City Planning Commission. Councilman Krueper seconded the motion. Motion carried. REPORT OF CONTROLLER FOR THE MONTH OF FEBRUARY, 1962. Councilman Glass seconded the motion. Motion carried. ANNUAL REPORT OF SEWAGE DISPOSAL PLANT Councilman Muszynski made a motion that the report be accepted and placed on file. Councilman Glass seconded the motion. Motion carried. REPORT OF COMMITTEE OF THE WHOLE To the Common Council of the City of South Bend: Your Committee of the Whole, to whom was referred AN ORDINANCE FOR ADDITIONAL APPROPRIATIONS_ IN THE STREET AND TRAFFI FUND, $15,000.00, AND IN THE FAIR EMPLOYMENT PRACTICE COMMISSION, $155.42, Respectfully report that they have examined the matter and that in their opinion IT SHOULD BE favorable, as amended. /s/ Eugene Ladewski, Acting Chairman March 26, 1962.
