REGULAR MEETING <br />MAY 22, 1961 <br />Be it remembered that the Common Council of the City of South Bend, Indiana, met in Regular Session in the Council <br />Chambers on Monday, May 22, 1961, at 8:15 P.M., with all members present. The Meeting was called to order by <br />President Joseph T. Kroll, who presided. <br />ROLL CALL <br />PRESENT: Councilmen Kroll, Allen, Ladewski, Tellson, Coleman, Glass, Krueper, Lehman and Muszynski. <br />ABSENT: None <br />REPORT OF COMMITTEE ON MINUTES <br />To the Common Council of the City of South Bend: <br />Your Committee on the inspection and-supervision of the minutes, would respectfully report that they have inspected <br />the minutes of the previous meeting of the Council and found them correct. Councilman Lehman seconded the <br />motion. Motion carried. <br />COMMUNICATION <br />DISTRICT COUNCIL OF LASALLE PARK <br />SOUTH BEND, INDIANA <br />MAY 15, 1961 <br />South Bend Common Council <br />City Hall <br />South Bend, Indiana <br />Gentlemen: <br />A recent survey conducted in our area has shown over 80 per cent of the property owners are in favor of rehabilitatio <br />for our neighborhood. <br />The LaSalle Park area residents feel that an emergency situation has developed because of past neglect, and this <br />emergency can only be resolved by favorable consideration and positive action by your Commission. <br />There are a number of new homes in the area deteriorating because of neighborhood blight. For the past four years we <br />have tried to seek streets and sewers under the Barrett Law. To date, only one sewer has been installed, and we had <br />to seek an out -of -state bond buyer for this. <br />Once the area has been rehabilitated, it should prove 4ttractive to private as well as public investors.
