<br />RESOLUTION OF THE BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS AND SAFETY OF THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND
<br />WHEREAS, the Board of Public Works and Safety of the City of South Bend, Indiana, has found that many streets
<br />in the City of South Bend have deteriorated and have become defective to a great and serious extent, and accordingly
<br />have created an emergency requiring immediate construction, re- construction and improvement of said streets; and,
<br />WHEREAS, the Board of Public Works and Safety of the City of South Bend finds that the construction, re -con-
<br />struction and improvement of such streets is necessary in order to protect the safety and well -being of the citizens,
<br />of said City and will be of general benefit to the entire City; and,
<br />WHEREAS, This Board finds that the estimated cost of the construction, re- construction and improvement of said
<br />streets and the incidental expenses in connection therewith will be in the amount of One Million Dollars
<br />($1,000,000.00); now, therefore,
<br />BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of Public Works and Safety of the City of South Bend, Indiana, that this Board
<br />request the City Controller of said City and the Common Council of said City to take proper steps immediately to
<br />provide the necessary funds for said purpose, in the amount of One Million Dollars ($1,000,000.00), and to that end
<br />that a copy of this resolution be filed with the City Controller and City Clerk and presented to the Common Council
<br />at the next meeting thereof.

<br />TO THE COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND INDIANA:
<br />The Board of Public Works and Safety of the City of South Bend, Indiana, has requested an appropriation in the
<br />amount of One Million Dollars ($1,000,000.00) for application on the cost of construction, re- construction and improv
<br />ment of streets in said City and the incidental expenses to be incurred in connection therewith.
<br />I recommend that said appropriation be made, and am submitting herewith for the consideration of the Council,
<br />a form of ordinance authorizing such appropriation. The City does not have funds available to pay the cost of said
<br />project, and in order to provide funds to meet said appropriation it will be necessary to authorize, issue and sell
<br />bonds of the City of South Bend in the amount of One Million Dollars ($1,000,000.00), and I am handing you herewith
<br />a form of ordinance drawn for such purpose.

<br />The Clerk then gave the Ordinance first reading by title and second reading in full. Councilman Muszynski made a
<br />motion for suspension of the rules. Councilman Allen seconded the motion. Motion carried by a roll call vote of
<br />9 ayes, 0 nays. The Clerk then gave the Ordinance Third reading and it was passed by a roll call vote of 9 ayes,
<br />0 nays.
<br />RESOLUTION
<br />WHEREAS, the 8th day of February. 1960, has been proclaimed as BOY SCOUT DAY in the City. of South Bend,
<br />Indiana; and,
<br />WHEREAS, the Boy Scouts of Tri- Valley Council,Boy Scouts of America, elected Officials amongst the Boy Scouts
<br />for the various offices in the City of South Bend; and,
<br />WHEREAS, the Boy Scouts have fulfilled their duties very efficiently and with dispatch;
<br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED: That the Common Council go on record as commending the Tri - Valley Council,
<br />Boy Scouts of America, the various elected officials amongst the Boy Scouts of America, the various elected official
<br />amongst the Boy Scouts, as well as the appointed Officials, for their service to the City of South Bend; and,
<br />BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Common Council go on record as commending the Tri - Valley Council, Boy Scouts
<br />of America, for the program instituted and trusting that it will continue this program from year to year; and,
<br />BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Common Council realizes that by this type of program, the young people of our
<br />community can become better acquainted with the government of the community; and
<br />BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be sent to the Tri- Valley Council, Boy Scouts of America
<br />and a copy be given to each Boy Scout elected to take part in Boy Scout day.
