172 REGULAR MEETING JANUARY 11, 1960 ORDINANCE, FIRST AND SECOND READING AN ORDINANCE APPROPRIATING ALL PARKING METER FEES AND FUNDS TO THE BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS AND SAFETY OF THE CIVIL CITY OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA, FOR THE USES AND PURPOSES SET FORTH THEREIN IN ACCORDANCE WITH CHAPTER 236 OF THE ACTS OF THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF INDIANA OF 1945, AS AMENDED BY CHAPTER 303 OF THE ACTS OF THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF 1951 The Ordinance was given first reading by title and second reading in full. Councilman Coleman made a motion that the Ordinance be set for public hearing on January 25, 1960. Councilman. Muszynski seconded the motion. Motion carried. ORDINANCE NO. 4294A -60 AN ORDINANCE TO CHANGE THE NAME OF PALACE THEATRE TO MORRIS CIVIC AUDITORIUM The Ordinance was given first reading by title and second reading in full. Councilman Muszynski made a motion for suspension of the rules. Councilman Allen seconded the motion. Motion carried by a roll call vote of 9 ayes, 0 nays. The Ordinance was then given third reading and passed by a roll call vote of 9 ayes, 0 nays. ORDINANCE, FIRST AND SECOND READING.; AN ORDINANCE FOR ADDITIONAL APPROPRIATIONS IN _MORRIS CIVIC AUDITORIUM $57,830.00 The Ordinance was given first reading by title and second reading in full. Councilman Glass made a motion that the Ordinance be set for public hearing on January 25, 1960. Councilman Muszynski seconded the motion. Motion carried. ORDINANCE, FIRST AND SECOND _READING AN ORDINANCE REGULATING THE ERECTION, CONSTRUCTION, REPAIR, ALTERATION, LOCATION, OF ALL ELECTRIC SIGNS; LOCATION OF ALL OVERHANGING SIGNS AND ALL TYPES OF ELECTRIFIED SIGNES WITHIN THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA; PROVIDING FOR THE POSTING OF BONDS, LICENSING OF SIGN CONTRACTORS: THE ISSUANCE OF PERMITS AND FEES THEREFORE; AND PROVIDING FOR MINIMUM CONSTRUCTION STANDARDS The Ordinance was given first reading by title and second reading in full. Councilman Glass made a motion that the Ordinance be referred to the Ordinance Committee for consideration and that the other members of the Council be invited to attend the meeting. Councilman Coleman seconded the motion. Motion carried. ORDINANCE, FIRST AND SECOND READING AN ORDINANCE AMENDING ORDINANCE NO. 3702, COMMONLY KNOWN AS THE ZONING ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND (East Jefferson -- -Light Petition) The Ordinance was given first reading by title and second reading in full. Councilman Allen made a motion that the Ordinance be set for Public Hearing on February 8, 1960. Councilman Coleman seconded the motion. Motion carried. OLD BUSINESS Councilman Muszynski commented on the condition of the Council Chambers and asked that the Clerk of the Board of Public Works and Safety be present at the next meeting of the Council to discuss the possibility of having the Council Chambers washed, the ceiling repaired and the room repainted. The Clerk was directed to ask the Clerk of the Board of Public Works and Safety to be present at the next Regular Meeting of the Council. Councilman Muszynski asked that an investigation be made as to what would be required to secure a traffic light at the .'intersection of Mayflower and Sample Streets. The Clerk was directed to advise the City Traffic Engineer to be present at the next regular meeting of the Council relative to this matter. Councilman Tellson complained about the condition of the railroad crossings at Twyckenham Drive, Ironwood Drive and Kemble Avenue. He asked that the City Engineer be present at the next Regular meeting of the Council to inform the Council as to what has been done during meetings with the railroad Officials. NEW BUSINESS Councilman Tellson asked the City Attorney to prepare an Ordinance regulating the use of Pellett.guns and City Attorney Irving J. Smith informed him that such an Ordinance is already being prepared. There being no further business to come before the Council, Councilman Coleman made a motion to4adjourn.
