172 <br />REGULAR MEETING <br />JANUARY 11, 1960 <br />ORDINANCE, FIRST AND SECOND READING <br />AN ORDINANCE APPROPRIATING ALL PARKING METER FEES AND FUNDS <br />TO THE BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS AND SAFETY OF THE CIVIL CITY OF <br />SOUTH BEND, INDIANA, FOR THE USES AND PURPOSES SET FORTH <br />THEREIN IN ACCORDANCE WITH CHAPTER 236 OF THE ACTS OF THE <br />GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF INDIANA OF 1945, AS AMENDED <br />BY CHAPTER 303 OF THE ACTS OF THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF 1951 <br />The Ordinance was given first reading by title and second reading in full. Councilman Coleman made a motion that <br />the Ordinance be set for public hearing on January 25, 1960. Councilman. Muszynski seconded the motion. Motion <br />carried. <br />ORDINANCE NO. 4294A -60 <br />AN ORDINANCE TO CHANGE THE NAME OF PALACE THEATRE TO MORRIS <br />CIVIC AUDITORIUM <br />The Ordinance was given first reading by title and second reading in full. Councilman Muszynski made a motion for <br />suspension of the rules. Councilman Allen seconded the motion. Motion carried by a roll call vote of 9 ayes, <br />0 nays. The Ordinance was then given third reading and passed by a roll call vote of 9 ayes, 0 nays. <br />ORDINANCE, FIRST AND SECOND READING.; <br />AN ORDINANCE FOR ADDITIONAL APPROPRIATIONS IN _MORRIS CIVIC <br />AUDITORIUM $57,830.00 <br />The Ordinance was given first reading by title and second reading in full. Councilman Glass made a motion that the <br />Ordinance be set for public hearing on January 25, 1960. Councilman Muszynski seconded the motion. Motion carried. <br />ORDINANCE, FIRST AND SECOND _READING <br />AN ORDINANCE REGULATING THE ERECTION, CONSTRUCTION, REPAIR, <br />ALTERATION, LOCATION, OF ALL ELECTRIC SIGNS; LOCATION OF ALL <br />OVERHANGING SIGNS AND ALL TYPES OF ELECTRIFIED SIGNES WITHIN <br />THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA; PROVIDING FOR THE POSTING OF <br />BONDS, LICENSING OF SIGN CONTRACTORS: THE ISSUANCE OF PERMITS <br />AND FEES THEREFORE; AND PROVIDING FOR MINIMUM CONSTRUCTION <br />STANDARDS <br />The Ordinance was given first reading by title and second reading in full. Councilman Glass made a motion that the <br />Ordinance be referred to the Ordinance Committee for consideration and that the other members of the Council be <br />invited to attend the meeting. Councilman Coleman seconded the motion. Motion carried. <br />ORDINANCE, FIRST AND SECOND READING <br />AN ORDINANCE AMENDING ORDINANCE NO. 3702, COMMONLY KNOWN AS <br />THE ZONING ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND <br />(East Jefferson -- -Light Petition) <br />The Ordinance was given first reading by title and second reading in full. Councilman Allen made a motion that the <br />Ordinance be set for Public Hearing on February 8, 1960. Councilman Coleman seconded the motion. Motion carried. <br />OLD BUSINESS <br />Councilman Muszynski commented on the condition of the Council Chambers and asked that the Clerk of the Board of <br />Public Works and Safety be present at the next meeting of the Council to discuss the possibility of having the <br />Council Chambers washed, the ceiling repaired and the room repainted. <br />The Clerk was directed to ask the Clerk of the Board of Public Works and Safety to be present at the next Regular <br />Meeting of the Council. <br />Councilman Muszynski asked that an investigation be made as to what would be required to secure a traffic light <br />at the .'intersection of Mayflower and Sample Streets. The Clerk was directed to advise the City Traffic Engineer <br />to be present at the next regular meeting of the Council relative to this matter. <br />Councilman Tellson complained about the condition of the railroad crossings at Twyckenham Drive, Ironwood Drive <br />and Kemble Avenue. He asked that the City Engineer be present at the next Regular meeting of the Council to inform <br />the Council as to what has been done during meetings with the railroad Officials. <br />NEW BUSINESS <br />Councilman Tellson asked the City Attorney to prepare an Ordinance regulating the use of Pellett.guns and City <br />Attorney Irving J. Smith informed him that such an Ordinance is already being prepared. <br />There being no further business to come before the Council, Councilman Coleman made a motion to4adjourn.
