<br />AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND SECTION 24 AND PARAGRAPH 4 OF SECTION 25 OF ARTICLE V OF
<br />ORDINANCE NO. 3200 AS AMENDED ENTITLED "ORDINANCE PROVIDING FOR THE ADMINISTRATION
<br />AND ENFORCEMENT OF THE REGULATIONS GOVERNING TRAFFIC UPON THE PUBLIC STREETS OF THE
<br />CITY OF SOUTH BEND ESTABLISHING A CETY TRAFFIC ENGINEER AND SETTING FORTH HIS DUTIES,
<br />ALSO ESTABLISHING A TRAFFIC BUREAU AND SETTING FORTH THE MEMBERSHIP AND DUTIES OF
<br />SUCH BUREAU AND REPEALING SUCH PARTS OF ORDINANCES THAT MAY BE IN CONFLICT HEREWITH
<br />ONLY INSOFAR AS THEY CONFLICT AND SUPPLEMENTING THE TRAFFIC ORDINANCES, BUT IN NO WAY
<br />REPEALING THE INTENT OR PURPOSES OF SAID ORDINANCES" PASSED FEBRUARY 8, 1937, ALSO
<br />KNOWN AS CHAPTER 29, SECTION 16 AND SUB - SECTION (c) OF SECTION 17 OF THE MUNICIPAL
<br />CODE OF THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA, 1949, GENERAL ORDINANCE NO. 3709.
<br />The Ordinance was given first reading by title and. second reading in full. Councilman Muszynski made a motion that
<br />the Ordinance be set for public hearing on December 14, 1959. Councilman Kroll seconded the motion. Motion carried.
<br />RESOLUTION
<br />WHEREAS, under Title I of the Housing Act of 19491 as amended, and the Housing Act of 1954, as amended, the
<br />Housing and Home Finance Administrator is authorized to extend financial assistance to localities in the elimination
<br />and prevention of the spread of their slums and urban blight through the planning and undertaking of urban renewal
<br />projects; and
<br />WHEREAS, it is desirable and in the public interest that the City of South Bend, Department of Redevelopment by
<br />and through the South Bend Redevelopment Commission, prepare surveys and plans, presently estimated to cost approx-
<br />imately $101,780 (One- Hundred - One - Thousand, Seven - Hundred Eighty Dollars), in order to undertake and carry out an
<br />urban renewal project of the character contemplated by Section 110(c) of said Title I, in that certain area, proposed
<br />as an Urban Renewal Area, situated in the City of South Bend, County of St. Joseph, and State of Indiana, and des-
<br />cribed as follows:
<br />LINDEN AVENUE LEGAL DESCRIPTION
<br />BEGINNING at the intersection of the westerly right of way line of Olive Street with the northerly right of way
<br />line of the New York Central Line.
<br />THENCE, in a southeasterly direction along the northerly right of way line of the New York Central Line for a
<br />distance of approximately 2,350 feet to the intersection with the projected center line of College Street.
<br />THENCE, in a northerly direction along the projected centerline of College'Street for a distance of approximate]
<br />400 feet to the intersection with the westerly right of way line at Circle Avenue.
<br />THENCE, in a northerly direction along the westerly right of way line of Circle Avenue for a distance of approx-
