Pa1'+U'U LR^11i L'iL' C..l 11VV <br />1VUVz11Dr,K zi, ly7y <br />REPORT OF CITY ENGINEER <br />MEMO TO: Mrs. Freda Noble, City Clerk November 23, 1959 <br />SUBJECT: Report to City Council concerning East Sample Street <br />In answer to the request for a progress report on Sample Street please be informed as follows: <br />The Rieth -Riley Construction Company working on East Sample Street have been waiting for ideal weather to <br />lay the concrete base, if not in total then just enough so that access to Zoker, Mossbergs, Home Plumbing and <br />Heating and the crosswalks for the school children could be built before bad weather closes the project. <br />This is our tentative schedule, however this morning at the Board of Public Works meeting several business <br />men from the Sample Street area and Mr. Glass appeared and it was decided that as soon as the present trench digging <br />operations are completed Sample Street will be opened for traffic and will not be closed again unless the Rieth -Riley <br />Company finds it practical to start laying the concrete base. <br />R. Councilman Tellson seconded the mot <br />Motion carried. <br />REPORT OF THE COMMITTEE OF THE WHOLE <br />To the Common Council of the City of South Bend: <br />Your Committee of the Whole, to whom was referred AN ORDINANCE ANNEXING TO THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND CERTAIN TERRITORY <br />CONTIGUOUS THERETO (Approximately 107 acres North of City Limits), AS AMENDED, Respectfully report that they have <br />examined the matter and that in their opinion IT SHOULD BE REPORTED FAVORABLE, AS AMENDED. <br />/s/ Joseph T. Councilman Muszynski made a motion for <br />suspension of the rules. Councilman Kroll seconded the motion.
