SPECIAL MEETING <br />August 30, 1971 <br />Be it remembered that the Common Council of the City of South Bend, Indiana, met in the Council <br />Chambers in the County -City Building on Monday, August 30, 1971 at 7:14 P.M. with seven members <br />present, two members absent. The meeting was called to order by Council President Robert 0. <br />Laven who presided. The invocation was given by Reverend Lyle Loomis, Grace United Methodist <br />Church, 3012 South Twyckenham Drive, South Bend, Indiana. <br />W%T.T.. OAT-T. <br />PRESENT: Councilmen Laven, Allen, Reinke, Craven, Grounds, Szymkowiak and <br />Zielinski. <br />ABSENT: Councilmen Wise and Palmer. <br />Mr. Laven announced that Mr. Palmer was delayed because of the responsibilities of his job and <br />would be late in arriving; and that he had received no word from Mr. Wise. <br />The following is the notice of the special meeting that was sent to all members of the Common <br />Council: <br />TO: THE MEMBERS OF THE COMMON COUNCIL <br />NOTICE OF SPECIAL MEETING OF THE COMMON COUNCIL <br />You are hereby notified that there will be a "SPECIAL MEETING" of the Common Council of the City <br />of South Bend, Indiana on the 30th day of August, 1971, at 7:00 p.m., local time, in the Council <br />Chambers, for the purpose of: <br />AN ORDINANCE APPROPRIATING MONEYS FOR THE PURPOSE OF DEFRAYING THE EXPENSES OF THE <br />SEVERAL DEPARTMENTS OF THE CITY GOVERNMENT OF THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA, FOR <br />THE FISCAL YEAR BEGINNING JANUARY 1, 1972, AND ENDING DECEMBER 31, 1972, INCLUDING <br />ALL OUTSTANDING CLAIMS AND OBLIGATIONS, AND FIXING A TIME WHEN THE SAME SHALL TAKE <br />EFFECT. <br />AND <br />AN ORDINANCE LEVYING TAXES AND FIXING THE RATE OF TAXATION FOR THE PURPOSE OF <br />RAISING REVENUE TO MEET THE NECESSARY EXPENSE FOR THE FISCAL YEAR ENDING <br />DECEMBER 31, 1972. <br />The Chief of Police or any member of the Polio Force is directed to serve a copy of this notice <br />to each member of the Common Council and make due return hereon. <br />Dated: August 23, 1971 <br />/s/ Robert 0.
