SPECIAL MEETING JULY 29, 1970 <br />Be it remembered that the Common Council of the City of South Bend, Indiana, met in the Council <br />Chambers in the County -City Building on Wednesday, July 29, 1970 at 7:10 p.m. The meeting was <br />called to order by Council - President Robert 0. Laven. The invocation was given by Reverend Matt <br />Kafka, St. Adalbert's Church, S. Olive Street, South Bend, Indiana. <br />ROLL CALL <br />PRESENT: Councilmen Laven, Allen, Reinke, Craven, Grounds, Szymkowiak <br />Wise, Palmer and Zielinski. <br />ABSENT: None. <br />Coundl-P res i dent Laven instructed the Clerk to read the Notice of Special Meeting of the Common <br />Council which was received by each Councilman. <br />CALL FOR SPECIAL MEETING <br />State of Indiana ) <br />St. Joseph County ) SS: <br />City of South Bend) <br />TO THE PRESIDENT AND MEMBERS OF THE COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA:. <br />Gentlemen: <br />You are hereby notified that there will be a "SPECIAL.MEETING" of the Common Council, called to <br />meet in the Council Chambers in the County -City Building, 227 W. Jefferson Blvd., South Bend, <br />Indiana, at the hour of 7:00 p.m., on Wednesday, July 29, 1970, for the purpose of considering <br />the following Ordinances, to wit: <br />AN ORDINANCE APPROPRIATING MONEYS FOR THE PURPOSE OF DEFRAYING <br />THE EXPENSES OF THE SEVERAL DEPARTMENTS OF THE CITY GOVERNMENT <br />OF THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA FOR THE FISCAL YEAR BEGIN- <br />NING JANUARY 1, 1971, AND ENDING DECEMBER 31, 1971, INCLUDING <br />ALL OUTSTANDING CLAIMS AND OBLIGATIONS, AND FIXING A TIME WHEN <br />THE SAME SHALL TAKE EFFECT. <br />AND <br />AN ORDINANCE LEVYING TAXES AND FIXING THE RATE OF TAXATION FOR <br />THE PURPOSE OF RAISING REVENUE TO MEET THE NECESSARY EXPENSE FOR THE <br />FISCAL YEAR ENDING DECEMBER 31, 1971. <br />The Chief of Police or any member of the Police Force is hereby directed to forwith serve a copy of <br />this notice on each and every member of the Common Council and make due return of such service of <br />said SPECIAL MEETING. <br />I <br />Dated this 28th day of July, 1970. <br />/s/ Lloyd M.
