REGULAR MEETING <br />TTTT.V 7 _ l.�hC) <br />JULY 14, 1969 <br />1, 20164 <br />Be it remembered that the Common Council of the City of South Bend, Indiana, met in the Council <br />Chambers in City Hall on Monday, July 14, 1969 at 8:00, eight members present, one member absent, <br />(Council President Robert 0. Laven) The meeting was called to order by Council Vice - President <br />Fredrick D. Craven, who presided. <br />ROLL CALL <br />Present: Councilman Allen,Craven, Grounds, Szymkowiak, <br />Wise, Palmer, Zielinski and Reinke <br />Absent: Councilman Laven <br />REPORT OF COMMITTEE ON MINUTES <br />To the Common Council of the City of South Bend: <br />Your Committee on the inspection and supervision of the minutes, would respectfully report that <br />they have inspected the minutes of June 23, 1969 meeting of the Council and found them correct. <br />They therefore recommend that the same be approved. <br />There being no objections, the Report was accepted as read and placed on file. <br />CITIZENS REQUESTS - MISCELLANEOUS MATTERS <br />Mr. Dalosko of the Veterans of Foreign Wars presented awards to Councilmen Wise and Allen and <br />City Controller James Bickel, who represented the Mayor, for their participation in the Loyalty <br />Day Parade held on April 26, 1969. This day was set aside as Loyalty Day by President Nixon <br />and proclaimed by Governor Whitcomb and the Veterans of Foreign Wars to be held in the United <br />States to conteract the Russian May Day, giving each American a day on which to demonstrate <br />their loyalty to our Country. <br />Councilman Craven introduced a group of young people in the audience from the Broadway Christian <br />Parish. They were given a warm welcome of applause from the members in the Council Chambers. <br />
