REGULAR MEETING FEBRUARY 24, 1969 <br />UNFINISHED BUSINESS <br />Councilman Allen thanked all the councilmen for returning their district maps with suggested <br />possible sites for low- income public housing in their districts. <br />Councilman Craven stated that it was his understanding that Fireman's Holiday pay could be <br />taken out of this year's budget. Councilman Allen agreed that this was also her understanding. <br />However, Councilman Craven said the Council was advised by Robert M. Parker, Chief Deputy <br />Attorney, that to raise firemen's pay midway in a budget year was not permitted, only a decrease <br />in salary budget is possible. Councilman Craven said that holiday pay should be included <br />in next year's budget. Councilman Reinke asked that it go on record that the statements of <br />Councilman Craven and Councilman Allen were their own personal statements and not the reflec- <br />tion of the Council. He said that he understood the increase could.not be made in this year's <br />budget. <br />NEW BUSINESS <br />Councilman Wise accepted the responsibility of helping the <br />singing organization find a suitable meeting place. This <br />before this evening's meeting. They sang original songs, <br />can help change the attitude of the world and help people <br />and should work together for a better world. <br />OLD BUSINESS <br />"Up With People" young people's <br />group entertained the Common Council <br />not protest music, which they believe <br />to realize they are all the same <br />Councilman Craven stated that so many of the city cars have a front plate with just..one number <br />on them and he wondered if that was the city's method of identification. Lloyd Taylor, City <br />Engineer said this was identification for maintenance purposes. Councilman Laven suggested <br />a nice decal with the City Seal for all City vehicals. This would be under the jurisdiction <br />of the Board of Works. Mr. Taylor agreed this was a good idea. <br />Councilman Laven Announced a meeting in Council Chambers with local PTA presidents and <br />the area PTA Council and other interested groups on Tuesday, February 25, 1969 at 7:30 P.M. <br />He urged all Councilmen to be in attendance. <br />There being <br />to adjourn. <br />at 9:30 p.m. <br />ATTEST: <br />no further business to come before the Council, Councilman Grounds made a motion <br />Councilman Zielinski seconded the motion. Motion carried. The meeting adjourned <br />APPROVED: <br />PRESIDENT <br />
