COMMITTEE OF THE WHOLE (continued <br />AUGUST 12. 1968 <br />City Attorney Arthur Frisk said that application will be made to the federal Office of Economic Opportunity, <br />and that necessary notices had been given. Mr. James Gentry, fiscal officer for ACTION Inc., explained the <br />$20,000 county contribution represented the local share of the cost of central administration, and that until <br />now that share had been supplied through the services of the United Community Services. Mr. Jesse Dickinson <br />said this program has to have contributions from the community and South Bend has not participated. Once it <br />is passed the city is then involved and this will give the local government a hand in it. Mr. Reinke questioned <br />where they secured the figure of $20,000 and Mr. Klopfenstein said there had been several meetings held with <br />Mayor Margaret Prickett of Mishawaka, Mayor Lloyd M. Allen, and several from Chicago and the board felt this <br />figure was what was needed. Councilman Allen giiestioned_ why it was a Private Non Profit Agency, and was told <br />this is the term used in the Federal Government Guidelines. Councilman Laven moved the Ordinance go to the <br />Council as favorable. Councilman Craven seconded the motion. Motion carried. <br />There being no further business before the Committee of the Whole, Councilman Laven made a motion to rise <br />and report to. the Council. Councilman Craven seconded the motion. Motion carried.
