REGULAR MEETING APRIL 22 1968 <br />REPORT OF AREA PLAN COMMISSION <br />April 18, 1968 <br />The Honorable Common Council <br />City of South Bend <br />South Bend, Indiana <br />Gentlemen: <br />The attached petition of Place and Company was legally advertised under date of April 6 and 13 and given <br />public hearing on April 16, 1968. The following action was taken: <br />After due consideration it was moved, seconded and unanimously carried that <br />the ordinance and site development plan be recommended favorably to the <br />Common Council. <br />Attached hereto and made a part of this report are the minutes of the meeting as they pertain to this <br />petition. <br />Very truly yours, <br />/s/ John K. Wilson, <br />Executive Director <br />There being no objections, the report was accepted as read and placed on file. <br />REPORT OF CITY CONTROLLER <br />The Report of the City Controller for the month of March, 1968 was submitted to the Council; each <br />Councilman having received a copy of the report prior to the meeting. There 'being no objection the <br />report was accepted. <br />PETITIONS <br />The undersigned, do hereby respectfully make application and petition the South Bend Common Council to <br />amend the Zoning Ordinance of South Bend, Indiana, as hereinafter requested, and in support of this <br />application the following facts are shown: <br />1. The property sought to be rezoned is located at: <br />The North side of Ireland Road, beginning approximately 650 feet East of the East line of U.S. <br />Highway 31 and extending approximately 750 feet along Ireland Road; and having a depth of <br />approximately 610 feet to the South line of Walter Street. <br />2. The property is owned by: Dale A. and Mabel Rowe, Howard W. and Elizabeth 0. Fleming, William <br />and Viola Major, Carl H. and Isabelle McClellan, Fore Associates, Robert William and Lorraine <br />V. Gibson, Dolores I. Molnar, Wayne A. and Alice C. Farrington, Lewis V. and Gertrude West, <br />George N. and Neva H. Nelson. <br />3. A legal description of the property is as follows: <br />Lots 164, 165, 166, 167, 168, 169, 172, 173, 174, 175, 176, 177, and the West Fifty -three <br />and Eleven Hundredths (53.11') feet of Lots 170 and 171, all as shown on the recorded Plat <br />of Myers and Funk's Third Plat of Chippewa Heights Addition to the City of South Bend. <br />4. It is desired and requested that the foregoing property be rezoned: <br />From "A' Residential Use and "A" Height and Area District <br />To "C" Commercial Use and "E" Height and Area District <br />5. It is proposed that the property will be put to the following use and the following building will <br />be constructed. <br />A large "Ayr -Way" Department Store of approximately 110,000 square feet with off- street <br />parking, aisles, landscaping and open areas. <br />6. Number of off - street parking spaces to be provided: Six Hundred and Twenty -two (622) <br />7.
