RESOLUTION NO. 398 -73 A RESOLUTION URGING THE UNITED STATES
HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES AND THE UNITED
STATES SENATE TO MAKE IT A FEDERAL
OFFENSE TO USE A HAND GUN IN A ROBBERY
OR BURGLARY.
WHEREAS, the use of hand guns in crimes of robbery and burglary is ever increasing
and is resulting in a horrifying rise in deaths, serious injury and violence; and
WHEREAS, the lack of legislation on weapon control, specifically hand gun control,
is partially and directly responsible for their increasing use; and
WHEREAS, it is the contention of the Administration and the Common Council of the
City of South Bend, Indiana, that it is the duty of federal legislators to make the use
of hand guns in a robbery or burglary a federal offense, especially since the lack of
controls has resulted in the sale of a hand gun every thirteen seconds in the United
States.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Common Council of the City of South Bend,
Indiana:
SECTION I. That the Common Council and the Administration of the City of South
