<br />REGULAR MEETING - RECONVENED (CONTINUED)
<br />WHEREAS, the Common Council of the City of South Bend recognizes that Anne Marger
<br />has served continuously from 1932 to January, 1962, as a school nurse in the South Bend
<br />School system and from January, 1962, to 1973 with the St. Joseph County Health Department.
<br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the South Bend Common Council that Anne Marger is
<br />hereby credited with four years of service by the City of South Bend, Indiana, for pension
<br />purposes and thereby.qualifies for a fifteen -year pension.

<br />A public hearing was held on the resolution at this time. A question was raised as to the reason
<br />for the resolution, and Council President Nemeth indicated that the request had been made by the
<br />Council. Councilman Parent made a motion that the resolution be adopted, seconded by Councilman
<br />Serge. The resolution passed by a roll call vote of eight ayes (Councilmen Serge, Szymkowiak,
<br />Miller, Parent, Taylor, Horvath, Newburn and Nemeth) and one nay (Councilman Kopczynski).

<br />ORDINANCE AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTER 20, VEHICLES AND
<br />TRAFFIC, OF THE MUNICIPAL CODE OF THE CITY OF
<br />SOUTH BEND, INDIANA.
<br />This ordinance had first reading. Councilman Taylor made a motion that the ordinance be set for
<br />public hearing and second reading on September 10, 1973, seconded by Councilman Parent. The moti
<br />carried.
<br />ORDINANCE AN ORDINANCE AMENDING THE MUNICIPAL CODE OF THE
<br />CITY OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA -1962, SECTION 40, AS
<br />AMENDED, AND GENERAL ORDINANCE NO. 4990 -68, AND
<br />THE ACCOMPANYING MAP THERETO GENERALLY KNOWN AS
<br />THE SOUTH BEND ZONING ORDINANCE BY CHANGING THE
<br />CLASSIFICATION OF THE USE DISTRICT FOR A CERTAIN
<br />PARCEL OF LAND (BROADMOOR SHOPPING CENTER).
<br />This ordinance had first reading. Councilman Miller made a motion that the ordinance be referred
<br />the Area Plan Commission, seconded by Councilman Parent. The motion carried.

<br />NO. 4990 -68, CHAPTER 40 OF THE MUNICIPAL CODE OF
<br />THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA, FORMERLY REFERRED
<br />TO AS ZONING ORDINANCE NO. 3702, AS AMENDED (1404
<br />KINYON STREET).
<br />This ordinance had first reading. Councilman Horvath made a motion that the ordinance be referred
<br />to the Area Plan Commission, seconded by Councilman Parent. The motion carried.
<br />ORDINANCE AN ORDINANCE AMENDING AND SUPPLEMENTING ORDINANCE
<br />NO. 4990 -68, CHAPTER 40 OF THE MUNICIPAL CODE OF
<br />THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA, FORMERLY REFERRED
<br />TO AS ZONING ORDINANCE NO. 3702 (EAST OF IRELAND
<br />ROAD CONTIGUOUS TO MONTGOMERY WARD AND THE SCOTTSDALE
<br />MALL PROPERTY) .
<br />This ordinance had first reading. Councilman Parent made a motion that the ordinance be referred
<br />to the Area Plan Commission, seconded by Councilman Miller. The motion carried.
<br />ORDINANCE AN ORDINANCE AMENDING ORDINANCE NO. 4990 -68,
<br />COMMONLY KNOWN AS THE ZONING ORDINANCE OF THE
<br />CITY OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA (1989 PRAIRIE AVENUE).
<br />This ordinance had first reading. Councilman Kopczynski made a motion that the ordinance be
<br />referred to the Area Plan Commission, seconded by Councilman Miller. The motion carried. (Counci:
<br />President Nemeth abstained.)
<br />ORDINANCE AN ORDINANCE APPROPRIATING MONEYS FOR THE PURPOSE
<br />OF DEFRAYING THE EXPENSES OF THE SEVERAL DEPARTMENTS
<br />OF THE CITY GOVERNMENT OF THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND,
<br />INDIANA, FOR THE FISCAL YEAR BEGINNING JANUARY 1,
<br />1974, AND ENDING DECEMBER 31, 1974, INCLUDING ALL
<br />OUTSTANDING CLAIMS AND OBLIGATIONS, AND FIXING A
<br />TIME WHEN THE SAME SHALL TAKE EFFECT.
<br />This ordinance had first reading. Councilman Parent made a motion that the ordinance be set for
<br />public hearing and second reading on August 27, 1973, seconded by Councilman Horvath. The motion
<br />carried.
<br />ORDINANCE AN ORDINANCE FOR THE TRANSFER OF FUNDS WITHIN THE
<br />FIRE DEPARTMENT BUDGET IN THE AMOUNT OF $9,100.00
<br />FROM ACCOUNT Q -11, "SERVICES PERSONAL ", TO ACCOUNT
<br />Q -221, "ELECTRIC CURRENT ", IN THE AMOUNT OF $3,000.00,
<br />TO ACCOUNT Q -224, "WATER ", IN THE AMOUNT OF $600.00, TO
<br />ACCOUNT Q -252, "REPAIR OF EQUIPMENT ", IN THE AMOUNT OF
<br />$3,500.00, AND TO ACCOUNT Q -430, "REPAIR PARTS ", IN THE
<br />AMOUNT OF $2,000.00, ALL ACCOUNTS BEING WITHIN THE FIRE
<br />DEPARTMENT BUDGET IN THE GENERAL FUND.
<br />This ordinance had first reading. Councilman Horvath indicated that this matter was a very impor-
<br />tant one within the Fire Department, and he requested that the matter be set for public hearing
