REGULAR MEETING <br />FEBRUARY 14, 1972 <br />Be it remembered that the Common Council of the City of South Bend, Indiana met in the Council <br />Chambers of the County -City Building on Monday, February 14, 1972 at 8:02 p.m. The meeting was <br />called to order by President Peter J. Nemeth who then asked everyone to stand and give the <br />Pledge of Allegiance to the flag. <br />ROLL CALL <br />PRESENT: Councilmen Serge, Szymkowiak, Miller, Parent, Taylor, Kopczynski, Horvath, <br />Newburn and Nemeth. <br />ABSENT: None <br />RESOLVE INTO THE COMMITTEE OF THE WHOLE <br />Council President Nemeth entertained a motion to resolve into the Committee of the Whole. <br />Councilman Parent so moved seconded by Councilman Miller. Motion carried. <br />COMMITTEE OF THE WHOLE MEETING <br />Be it remembered that the Common Council of the City of South Bend, Indiana met in the Committee <br />of the Whole in the Council Chambers of the County -City Building on Monday, February 14, 1972 <br />at 8:04 p.m. with nine members present. The meeting was called to order by Chairman Odell <br />Newburn, who presided. <br />AT07034ky I KW <br />AN ORDINANCE AMENDING AND SUPPLEMENTING <br />ORDINANCE NO. 4990 - CHAPTER 40 OF THE <br />MUNICIPAL CODE (FORMERLY ZONING ORDINANCE <br />NO. 3702). (4001 and 4015 SOUTH MAIN STREET) <br />This being the time heretofore set for public hearing on the above ordinance, proponents and <br />opponents were given an opportunity to be heard thereon. Mr. Douglas Carpenter, representing <br />the Area Plan Commission, reported that th4s site is to be used for a Post Office Sub - Station <br />and that the Area Plan Commission was recommending its approval. Councilman Parent made a <br />motion that the Ordinance go to the Council as favorable, seconded by Councilman Taylor. <br />Motion carried. <br />ORDINANCE <br />AN ORDINANCE AMENDING AND SUPPLEMENTING <br />ORDINANCE NO. 4990 -68, CHAPTER 40 OF THE <br />MUNICIPAL CODE OF THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND, <br />INDIANA, FORMERLY REFERRED TO AS ZONING <br />ORDINANCE NO. 3702, AS AMENDED. (18389 EDISON ROAD) <br />This being the time heretofore set for public hearing on the above ordinance, proponents and <br />opponents were given an opportunity to be heard thereon. Mr. Douglas Carpenter, of the Area <br />PlAh Commistion, reported that this site is located at Edison Road and Indiana #23 and is <br />presently being used as a barber shop and a residence and that the owner is requesting this <br />change. Councilman Taylor made a motion that the Ordinance go to the Council as favorable <br />seconded by Councilman Parent. Motion carried. <br />There being no further business to be considered before the Committee of the Whole, Chairman <br />Newburn entertained a motion to rise and report to the Council, so moved by Councilman Taylor, <br />seconded by Councilman Szymkowiak.
