<br />nays (Council Members Kopczynski, Adams and Horvath.) Council Members Adams made a motion to
<br />amend the budget in the Controller's office in account #110, eliminate the assistant personnel
<br />director for a total of $13,629, in account #520 eliminate $2,500 for a leased car, in the
<br />Fire Department account 110 account 110 reduce an assistant fire chief for a total of $5,400
<br />and eliminate the reorganization for a total of $20,800, seconded by Council Member Kopczynski.
<br />The motion failed on a roll call vote of three ayes (Council Members Kopczynski, Adams and
<br />Horvath) and six nays. Council Members Adams made a motion to cut account 213 in the Fire
<br />Department to $2,000. The motion failed for lack of a second. Council Member Miller made a
<br />motion to cut account 213 in the Fire Department $2,000, seconded by Council Member'Taylor. The
<br />motion carried. Mr. Isadore Rosenfeld, Chairman of the Human Rights Commission, spoke against
<br />the cut in Human Rights of a field worker. Mr. Tony Shelton, 1107 N. Twyckenham, spoke against
<br />the inequities in the black community of the City. Ms. Karen Gleason, Executive Director of
<br />Civic Planning, spoke against encumbering next year's budget by carrying one -half of the election
<br />expense over to the following year, as well as cutting equipment and personnel. Mr. Conrad
<br />Damien, 718 E. Broadway, spoke against closing Fire Station #12. Mr. Tim Brazzel, representativ(
<br />of the Firefighters Union, spoke against closing Station #12. He-indicated the firefighters wer(
<br />concerned about public safety. Mrs. Esther Waldron, 7272 Fellows, indicated she would like the
<br />fire station to remain open. Ms. Georgia Schricker, spoke against the closing of the fire static
<br />Sean Brugh, 1135 E. Indiana, presented a petition with 425 signatures against closing the station
<br />to the Mayor. Mr. Keith Cramer, local firefighters, presented a petition to the Mayor with
<br />2,366 signatures against closing the station. Mr. Jim Beck, 1630 Randolph, indicated he was
<br />opposed to closing the station. Mr. Watsie Garland, indicated he was against closing the station
<br />Council Member Adams asked the Mayor to schedule a Mayor- Council caucus to work out the pro-
<br />blems with the Fire Department. Council Member Adams made a motion to amend her previous motion
<br />regarding the new Section 3, to add the Park Fund and Human Rights, seconded by Council Member
<br />Taylor. The motion carried. Council Member Miller made a motion to recommend this bill to the
<br />Council favorable, as amended, seconded by Council Member Taylor. The motion carried on a roll
<br />call vote of six ayes and three nays (Council Members Kopczynski, Adams and Horvath.)
