(Southwest
corner of South Michigan Street and East
Chippewa, known as Chippewa Knoll).
This being the time heretofore set for public hearing on the above ordinance, proponents and op-
ponents were given an opportunity to be heard. Mr. Tony Molnar, of the Area Plan Commission,
made the presentation for the ordinance. He said basically this was an extension of commerical
uses of this property. Mr. James Seitz, Park Superintendent, made the
presentation for the ordinance. He said that because of budget cuts made in 1976, and unexpecte
problems, the Park Department is in a situation where it now needs funds for the efficient opera
tion of the department. He said there was a surplus in the General Park Fund for two reasons;
Controlled spending in the last six months of 1975 to help offset the error made in computing th
amount of State Auto Excise Tax the City would receive in 1975; and an increase in the amount of
miscellaneous receipts that were actually received over the amount that was estimated in 1975.
He said the eighteen year old boiler at Erskine Clubhouse has sprung a leak and cannot be re-
paired and the new boiler will cost $5,000. He said a new filtration system was needed at
Kennedy Pool and that would cost $6,000. He said they needed the following equipment for Erskin
Golf Course: Cushman Truckster or equal, $3,000; greens aerator, $3,400; and a fairway aerator,
$2,100.
Council Member Dombrowski made a motion that this ordinance be recommended favorably to the
seconded by Council Member Kopczynski. The motion carried.
Council Member Horvath asked if the vehicles the police bought to patrol the mall could be con-
verted into park use.
