REGULAR MEETING JUNE 27, 1983 <br />Be it remembered that the Common Council of the City of South Bend met in the Council <br />Chambers of the County -City Building on Monday, June 27, 1983, at 7:00 p.m. The <br />meeting was called to order and the Pledge to the Flag was given. <br />ROLL CALL Present: Council Members Serge, Szymkowiak McGann, Taylor, <br />Zielinski, Crone, Harris, Voorde and Beck <br />Absent: None <br />REPORT FROM THE SUB - COMMITTEE ON MINUTES <br />To the Common Council of the City of South Bend: <br />Your sub - committee on the inspection and supervision of the minutes would res- <br />pectfully report that it has inspected the minutes of the June 13, 1983, meeting of <br />the Council and found them correct. <br />The sub - committee, therefore, recommends that the same be approved. <br />/s/ Beverlie J. Crone <br />Council Member Serge made a motion that the minutes of the June 11, meeting of the Council <br />be accepted and placed on file, seconded by Council Member Zielinski. The motion <br />carried. <br />SPECIAL BUSINESS <br />Council President Beck indicated that the Council had an appointment to the TRANSPO <br />Board of Directors, and they would take applications for that appointment for the <br />next ten days. <br />Council President Beck indicated the Council had 9 appointments to the Mayor's Traffic <br />Commission. She indicated the appointees had been asked to attend the July 14 meeting <br />at the Hans Haus. <br />REPORTS <br />Council Member Taylor indicated that the Human Resources and Economic Development <br />Committee had met regarding resolutions A, B and C, and recommended it favorable. <br />Council Member Szymkowiak indicated that the Utilities Committee had met on Bill 51- <br />83 and recommended it favorable. <br />Council Member Serge indicated that the Personnel & Finance Committee had met on Bill <br />No. 50 and 54 -83, and recommended them favorable. <br />Council Member Zielinski indicated that the Public Works Committee had met on Bill <br />nos. 56, 57, 58, 59, 60 and 61 -83, and recommended them favorable. <br />Council Member Harris indicated that the Public Safety Committee and met on Bill No. <br />55 -83 and recommended it favorable. <br />Council Member Voorde indicated that the Zoning and Vacation Committee ad met on Bill <br />No. 41 -83 and recommended it favorable, with the amendment that was being proposed. <br />Council Member Taylor made a motion to resolve into the Committee of the Whole, seconded <br />by Council Member Zielinski. The motion carried. <br />COMMITTEE OF THE WHOLE <br />Be it remembered that the Common Council of,the City of South Bend met in the Committee <br />of the Whole on June 27, at 7:05 p.m., with nine members present. Chairman Zielinski <br />presiding. <br />BILL NO. 41 -83 <br />A BILL TO VACATE THE FOLLOWING PROPERTY: THE FIRST EAST -WEST <br />ALLEY SOUTH OF NAPOLEAN ST., RUNNING EAST FROM ST. LOUIS TO <br />ST. PETER ST. BETWEEN LOTS 67 -68 AND 61 -62 OF SORIN'S 2ND <br />ADDITION TO THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND FOR A COMBINED DISTANCE <br />OF 330'. <br />This being the time heretofore set for public hearing on the above bill, proponents <br />and opponents were given an opportunity to be heard. Brian Miller, 1115 N. St. Peter, <br />indicated they were requesting this vacation for security purposes. Council Member <br />Voorde made a motion to amend bill in Section 5, by adding subject to a written access <br />agreement between the owners of lots 61 and 62, seconded by Council Member Beck. The <br />motion carried. Council Member Harris made a motion to add lots 67 and 68, seconded <br />by Council Member Serge. The motion carried. Council Member Voorde made a motion to <br />recommend this bill to the Council favorable, as amended, seconded by Council Member <br />Beck. The motion carried. <br />
