7 <br />REGULAR MEETING <br />NOVEMBER 8, 1982 <br />Be it remembered that the Common Council of the City of South Bend met in the Council <br />Chambers of the County -City Building on Monday, November 8, 1982, at 7:00 p.m. The <br />meeting was called to order and the Pledge to the Flag was given. <br />ROLL CALL Present: Council Members Serge, Szymkowiak Beck, Taylor, <br />Zielinski, Crone, Harris, Voorde and McGann <br />Absent: None <br />REPORT FROM THE SUB - COMMITTEE ON MINUTES <br />To the Common Council of the City of South Bend: <br />Your sub - committee on the inspection and supervision of the minutes would res- <br />pectfully report that it has inspected the minutes of the October 25, 1982, meeting <br />of the Council and found them correct. <br />The sub - committee, therefore, recommends that the same be approved. <br />/s/ Lewis A. Crone <br />Council Member Serge made a motion that the minutes of the October 25, 1982, meeting <br />of the Council be accepted and placed on file, seconded by Council Member Beck. <br />The motion carried. <br />SPECIAL BUSINESS <br />RESOLUTION NO. 1007 -82 <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SOUTH <br />BEND, INDIANA, COMMEMORATING THE MANY CONTRIBUTIONS MADE TO <br />OUR COMMUNITY BY THE LATE CLYDE E. WILLIAMS, SR. <br />WHEREAS, the Common Council of the City of South Bend, Indiana, recognizes with <br />sadness that one of its finest and most dedicated citizens, Clyde E. Williams, Sr., <br />has recently passed away; and <br />WHEREAS, the Council recognizes with pride the years of 1938 to 1942 when Clyde <br />E. Williams, Sr. served with distinction as City Engineer; and <br />WHEREAS, the Council notes some of the many poitions and honors which Clyde E. <br />Williams, Sr. held and received, such as: the founder of Clyde E. Williams & Associates, <br />Inc.; a member of the South Bend Redevelopment Commission; past Chairman of the <br />Indiana Section of the American Society of Civil Engineers; past Chairman of the <br />Indiana Section of the American Water Works Association; past President of the Counsulting <br />Engineers of Indiana, Inc.; past Director of the St. Joseph Valley Chapter of the <br />Indiana Section of Professional Engineers; recepient of the 1965 Engineer of the <br />Year Award and Award of Merit in 1974, and memberships in many benevolent organizations <br />of our community; and <br />WHEREAS, the professionalism and countless contributions made to the City of <br />South Bend and to the Engineering profession by the late Clyde E. Williams, Sr. make <br />up a rich legacy for our Community to cherish and emulate into the future. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Common Council of the City of South Bend, <br />indiana as follows: <br />SECTION I. On behalf of the citizens of South Bend, Indiana, the Common Council <br />hereby publicly commemorates the late Clyde E. Williams, Sr. for a life of dedicated <br />service and contribution to our community and to the profession of Engineering which <br />he served. <br />SECTION II. The Common Council expresses its deepest sympathy to Mrs. Clyde E. <br />Williams, Sr. and her family, and hopes that the rich memories of her husband will <br />brighten the days ahead. <br />SECTION III.
