358 <br />REGULAR MEETING SEPTEMBER 27, 1982 <br />I! <br />RESOLUTION NO. 995 -82 A RESOLUTION OF THE COMMON COUNCIL AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR TO <br />SUBMIT AN APPLICATION FOR A GOVERNOR'S DISCRETIONARY GRANT, <br />UNDER THE COMPREHENSIVE EMPLOYMENT AND TRAINING ACT THROUGH <br />THE INDIANA OFFICE OF OCCUPATIONAL DEVELOPMENT. <br />WHEREAS, the City of South Bend, acting through the Office of the Mayor and the <br />Common Council, has aggressively and successfully sought to improve South Bend's <br />economyby initiating and supporting economic development projects which increase <br />the City's tax base, job opportunities, and local incomes; and <br />WHEREAS, the City of South Bend, acting through the Office of the Mayor and <br />Common Council, has aggressively and successfully sought out assistance to support <br />local efforts and to supplement local resources; and <br />WHEREAS, the purpose of the Governor's Discretionary Fund is to strengthen the <br />links between economic development activities and CETA efforts to provide employment <br />for low to moderate income persons; and <br />WHEREAS, the City of South Bend would like to continue its development packaging <br />and job targeting linkage mechanism and strengthen said mechanism with an industrial <br />development inducement project to be utilitized principally in economic develpment <br />activities that have a substantial potential for job creation; and <br />WHEREAS, the Mayor is the chief executive officer of the City, and is the applicant <br />for a Governor's Discretionary Grant through the Indiana Office of Occupational <br />Develpment. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Common Council of the City of South Bend, <br />Indiana: <br />SECTION I. The Mayor has the authority to submit an application for funds from <br />the Governor's Discretionary Fund through the Indiana Office of Occupational Develpment. <br />SECTION II. The Department of Redevelopment shall be Administrative Agent for <br />the program, should funds be awarded. <br />SECTION III. This resolution shall be in full force and effect from and after <br />its adoption by the Common Council and approval by the Mayor. <br />RESOLUTION NO. 996 -82 <br />/s/ Beverlie J.
