REGULAR MEETING AUGUST 11 1980 . <br />REGULAR MEETING RECONVENED (CONTINUED <br />A public hearing was held on the resolution at this time. Ernest Szarwark, attorney <br />for Mossberg, indicated that Area Plan questioned the potential problem of parking, <br />He indicated that Mossberg has acquired a piece of land across the street that will <br />park sixty cars, Glenadarae Hernandez, 702 E, South, asked the location of this <br />parking space. Mr. Szarwark explained that it was on Tutt Street, Council Member Serge <br />made a motion to adopt this resolution, seconded by Council Member Kopczynski, The <br />resolution was adopted by a roll call vote of eight ayes. <br />RESOLUTION NO, 800 --80 <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SOUTH <br />BEND, INDIANA, APPROVING THE AWARD OF FIVE CONTRACTS IN <br />EXCESS OF $51000,00 FOR THE REHABILITATION WORK IN THE <br />COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT, <br />WHEREAS, under the provisions of Ordinance No, 5872 -75, passed by the South Bend <br />Common Council on August 11, 1975, . all contracts in excess of $5,000,00 must be approved <br />by the Common Council; and <br />WHEREAS, low bids for the rehabilitation work under the Community Development <br />Housing Program have exceeded $5,000.00, <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by the Common Council of the City of South Bend, <br />Indiana; <br />1. That approval be granted to the Redevelopment Commission of the City of South <br />Bend, Indiana, to enter into a contract with the following contractors for the rehabilita- <br />tion work on the following properties. <br />CONTRACTOR <br />1. Katherine Baumgartner, Director <br />of the Bureau of Housing, indicated that the houses located at the above address were to <br />be rehabilitated. She indicated that the title of this resolution should be amended from <br />one to six contracts. Council Member Kopczynski indicated there was no such address as <br />241 S. Phillipa. He made a motion to delete 241 S. Philipa from the resolution and <br />correct the title to read five contracts, seconded by Council Member Dombrowski. The motic <br />carried. Council Member Kopczynski made a motion to adopt the resolution, as amended, <br />seconded by Council Member Dombrowski. The resolution was adopted by a roll call vote <br />of eight ayes. <br />BILLS. FIRST READING <br />BILL NO. 91 -80 <br />A BILL APPROPRIATING MONIES FOR THE PURPOSE OF DEFRAYING THE <br />EXPENSES OF THE SEVERAL DEPARTMENTS OF THE CITY GOVERNMENT <br />OF THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA, FOR THE FISCAL YEAR BE- <br />GINNING JANUARY 1, 1981 AND ENDING DECEMBER 31, 1981, INCLUDING <br />ALL OUTSTANDING CLAIMS AND OBLIGATIONS AND FIXING A TIME WHEN <br />THE SAME SHALL TAKE EFFECT. <br />This bill had first reading. Council Member Crone made a motion to set this bill for <br />public hearing and second reading August 18, 1980, seconded by Council Member Kopczynski. <br />The motion carried. <br />BILL NO. 92 -80 A BILL LEVYING TAXES AND FIXING THE RATE OF TAXATION FOR THE <br />PURPOSE OF RAISING REVENUE TO MEET THE NECESSARY EXPENSE FOR <br />THE FISCAL YEAR ENDING DECEMBER 31, 1981. <br />This bill had first reading. Council Member Crone made a motion to set this bill for <br />public hearing and second reading August 18, 1980, seconded by Council Member Kopczynski. <br />BILL NO. 93 -80 <br />A BILL APPROPRIATING $18,500.00 FROM THE LOCAL ROAD AND STREET <br />FUND TO PROJECT R &S 8002, TRAFFIC PRE- EMPTOR AND MEDIAN MODIFICA- <br />TION, WITHIN THE LOCAL ROAD AND STREET FUND. <br />This bill had first reading. Council Member Beck made a motion to refer this bill to <br />the Public Works Committee, and set it for public hearing and second reading August 25, <br />1980, seconded by Council Member Dombrowski.
