REGULAR MEETING <br />JULY 9, 1984 <br />a Be it remembered that the Common Council of the City of South Bend met in the Council <br />Chambers of the County -City Building on Monday, July 9, 1984 at 7:00 p.m. The meeting <br />was called to order and the Pledge to the Flag was given. <br />ROLL CALL Present: Council Members Serge, Braboy, Puzzello, Taylor, <br />Zakrzewski, Crone, Paszak, Voorde and Beck <br />Absent: None <br />REPORT FROM THE SUB - COMMITTEE ON MINUTES <br />To the Common Council of the City of South Bend: <br />Your sub - committee on the inspection and supervision of the minutes would res- <br />pectfully report that it has inspected the minutes of the June 25, 1984, meeting of <br />the Council and found them correct. <br />The sub - committee, therefore, recommends that the same be approved. <br />/s/ Beverlie J. Puzzello <br />Isl Thomas Zakrzewski <br />Council Member Serge made a motion that the minutes of the June 25, 1984, meeting of <br />the Council be accepted and placed on file, seconded by Council Member Taylor. The <br />motion carried. <br />SPECIAL BUSINESS <br />Council President Beck announced that Joseph Kasa had been appointed to the Mayor's <br />Traffic Commission. <br />REPORTS <br />Council Member Braboy indicated that the Human Resources and Economic Development <br />Committee had met on Resolution 9A and recommended it favorable. <br />Council Member Voorde indicated that the Zoning and Vacation Committee had met on <br />bill nos. 53 and 62 -84. He indicated that 62 -84 received a favorable recommendation. <br />He indicated that Bill No. 53 -84 received a favorable recommendation subject to <br />approval of the final site plan. He indicated that the City Clerk's office was to <br />send any amendments to the site plan back to Area Plan. <br />Council Member Puzzello indicated that the Energy Commission has an opening'for a <br />new member. <br />Council Member Taylor made a motion to resolve into the Committee of the Whole, <br />seconded by Council Member Voorde. The motion carried. <br />COMMITTEE OF THE WHOLE <br />Be it remembered that the Common Council of the City of South Bend met in the Committee <br />of the Whole on Monday, June 25, 1984, at 7:06 p.m., with nine members present. <br />Chairman Serge presiding. <br />BILL NO. 53 -84 A BILL AMENDING ORDINANCE NO. 4990 -68, AS AMENDED, COMMONLY KNOWN AS THE <br />2QNING ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA (CHAPTER <br />21, MUNICIPAL CODE) (SOUTHEAST CORNER OF THE INTERSECTION <br />OF BENDIX AND THE INDIANA TOLL ROAD.) <br />Council Member Crone made a motion to accept the substitute bill on file with the <br />City Clerk, seconded by Council Member Voorde. The motion carried. This being the <br />time heretofore set for public hearing on this bill, proponents and opponents were <br />given an opportunity to be heard. Gary Stair, assistant director of Area Plan, <br />gave their report, which indicated that a connection to Portage was needed for emergency <br />vehicles. Charles Clark, a representative of the Holladay Corporation, indicated <br />they had received a letter from John Leszczynski requesting items be included in the <br />final site plan: replace the 900 turn at Sugar Maple Lane and Portage Way with a <br />150 fet. radius curve with Sugar Maple Lane as the main thoroughfare; extened Portage F <br />Way to Sugar Maple Lane with Portage Way intersecting at a 900 angle; a crash gate <br />is to be installed on Portage Way to prohibit thru traffic but allow emergency vehicles <br />access; Holladay Corporation is to dedicate the necessary property for the right -of- <br />way of Portage Way. He indicated that the Holladay Corporation agreeded with all <br />items in this letter. Council Member Beck made a motion to recommended this bill to <br />the Council favorable, as amended, seconded by Council Member Taylor. The motion <br />carried. <br />a <br />r <br />l <br />
