SPECIAL_ MEETING JUNE 22, 19.84 <br />The Clothing allowance for each bargaining unit officer <br />shall increase from $500.00 to $599.00 annually. <br />Item 3. Holiday Pay <br />Each bargaining unit police officer shall be paid holiday <br />pay at the rate of $62.00 per holiday for the twelve (12) <br />recognized holidays. <br />Item 4. 1 Health Care Insurance Cost Reduction Program <br />The City of South Bend in conjunction with the Fraternal <br />Order of Police will create a Board of Oversight that will, <br />under the direction of the City Controller, review on a <br />regular basis the activities of the Health Insurance Program. <br />That Board shall consist of representation from the aforemention <br />employee bargaining group in conjunction with representation <br />from the City of South Bend Controller's staff and other <br />employees. In an effort to control health care costs, the <br />current health insurance packagge will be modified resulting <br />in a program that can be defined as a comprehensive major <br />medical health insurance program. This would entail first <br />dollar deductibles of 10% of the cost with maximum annual <br />costs to the employee of $500.00. <br />Item 5. Sick Leave Cost Reduction Program <br />To induce the conservation of sick time and the cost thereof, <br />on an experimental basis and as a part of the wage agreement <br />for 1985 and 1986, the following program will be instituted <br />in the Police Department. Starting December 1, 1984, and <br />annually thereafter, employees of the South Bend Police <br />Department Bargaining Unit shall be paid for sick time <br />conservation as follows: <br />1. One (1) days pay for four (4) unused sick days <br />2. Two (2) days pay for nine (9) unused sick days <br />3. Three (3) days pay-for twelve (12) unused sick days <br />4. Four (4) days pay for fifteen (15) unused sick days. <br />The hourly rate of pay herein shall be the then present <br />rate of pay for the rank of Corporal. Payment hereunder <br />shall be made to the employee on or before December 15 of <br />each year hereafter. This program will program will not <br />affect the existing sick time policy of such employees. <br />Section II - 1986 Wage and Benefit Agreement <br />Fringe benefits approved for the year 1985 shall continue in 1986. All benefits <br />currently negotiated are also left intact. For 1986, a 2% across the board wage <br />increase is granted to all members of the Fraternal Order of Police Bargaining Unit. <br />In addition, if a Local'O Option Income Tax is passed, 3% in addition to the base 2% <br />P P <br />wage increase will be granted across the board to all members of the Fraternal Order <br />of Police Bargaining Unit. <br />Section III <br />It is understood that the above agreement is approved by the Fraternal Order of <br />Police Wage Negotiating Committee and the Common Council Wage Negotiating Committee <br />of the city of South Bend, conditional on the approval of the Fraternal Order of <br />Police Membership and the Common Council of the City of South Bend respectively. <br />FRATERNAL ORDER OF POLICE WAGE COMMITTEE <br />/s/ Larry Hostetler <br />/s[ J. Taylor <br />John Voorde <br />Thomas Zakrzewski <br />Euqenia Braboy <br />Council Member Serge made a motion that the full Council <br />of the wage committe, seconded by Council Member Paszek. <br />roll call vote of seven ayes. <br />accept the recommendation <br />The motion carried on a <br />George Herendeen, attorney for the F.O.P., indicated that on behalf of the Police <br />Wage Committee, they express thanks to the Council Wage Committee for their deligent <br />work and good faith negotiations. He indicated it does not meet the demands, but <br />the wage committee accepts it and will go to their full membership to seek their <br />approval. He indicated that the Police Wage Committee will encourage approval by <br />their membership. <br />Council Member Paszak made a motion to adourn, seconded by Council Member Serge. <br />The motion carried and the meeting was adjourned at 3:25 p.m. <br />
